Just wondering the range of what people give these days.

Thanks, it's for a relative.

Hardly

Jesus! We've chosen not to get marries but if I can expect hundreds or thousands I might get myself down to the registry office 😂

Anywhere between £100-£300 from us as a couple. £100 for friends / distant family and £200-£300 for close friends and family.

People on here are saying £50… so £25 from each person essentially. I would be embarrassed to do that. Im not sure how you wouldn’t be?

That's a disgusting attitude tbf. If you're incapable of recognising that £50 is a lot of money to many people then you need to spend more time outside of your bubble.

£100 day £50 night invite

When we got married in 2005 my best friend gave £10 and my uncle gave £1000, other people gifted amounts in between and we appreciated every single one. We knew £10 was a lot for my friend and while my uncle was generous to give us £1000 we knew he wouldn't miss it as money wasn't an issue for him.

I think £200 for a friend £300 for cousin £500+ for sibling.

I live in the North of Ireland that is standard. Like they are covering your dinner and a few drinks they are lucky to break even

£50-£100

I got married last year in Ireland (Im from Ireland). Gifts from couples ranged from 200/250 from cousins/friends up to 500 from neighbours/aunts/uncles/siblings. I would generally not give any less than 200 as a couple. The difference between the UK and Ireland seems to be massive from reading here!

What about a second wedding? Do people tend to do less? Especially if the couple are pretty wealthy

It's a good question and a dilemma I was facing right now.

Thankfully friends have organised a joint "experience" costing £50 each.. otherwise I'd have been stumped.

Young couple first wedding is one thing.
60 ish second wedding quite another.

I'm also Irish and very struck by the difference between what's considered acceptable in the UK vs in Ireland. I'd consider €200 to €250 minimum per couple.

I usually give £100 - at our wedding we had a complete range from nothing (not even a card!) to £500 from v generous family members.
