No sound with WhatsApp notifications

I am in despair. About two years ago I stopped getting notifications with WhatsApp messages. I assumed it was my phone being faulty and just put up with it. I recently got a new phone and am experiencing the same thing. I’ve searched online , listening to you tube etc and all my settings seem to be correct. Can anyone help me?!! Occasionally it will ping, but mostly not. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it.

Go on to the settings in the app click on notifications

There are two ways to change settings. Within WhatsApp itself and within the app settings on your phones general settings.

I suggest it’s the second. screen shot both. We can sort it. What kind of phone?

Says me…. Phone permanently on silent. Can’t believe we used to PAY for ringtones!

iPhone. I’ve done this already. Everything is turned on. It’s bizarre.

Uninstall then install maybe

I’ve just uninstalled and reinstalled it . Still not working . All the things that are checked in the screenshot are checked. It’s just so weird.

Pop into a phone shop ask them

Is your phone in focus mode, and if so, have you allowed what’s app notifications?

I have allowed WhatsApp notifications what is focus mode?

Checked do not disturb isn’t on .

Text notifications work but WhatsApp doesn’t

Focus mode blocks notifications from some apps, swipe from top right to bring up your control centre and see if you have a focus mode on. It’ll say something like do not disturb, or driving, or personal, something like this

Can you screen shot us your whatsap notification page in settings and in whatsap? Here are mine and both the circle bits need to be on with a sound picked. Have you tried changing which sound?

No . This has been an issue for about two years now .

No I think I’ll do that. I assumed until I got a new phone that the old one was faulty.

When you are in a what's app message do you exit directly the phone Home Screen or do you exit to your inbox and then exit to the phone Home Screen?

No idea! It depends what I’m doing.

If you exit direct to the Home Screen it can behave as if the message is still open so doesn't notify you?

Are you connected to your car Bluetooth? My sound doesn’t work, even if I’m not in the car, I have to disconnect it to make the sound work on my phone.
