Internet and news are sometimes skewed too negatively hence the thread! What went well for you today or made you happy? Little joys or big, all are welcome.

Mine: Caught a deteriorating patient early after deciding to do some extra checks and had uplifting views as I drove home.

Two things today.

Dc enjoyed an egg hunt while I sat in the sun eating their sweets.

Huge tup lamb born with no intervention and happily pottered about in the sun with its mum.

On crutches ATM after knee replacement surgery this week; it's been hard and very painful but I managed to walk up and down the kitchen and conservatory five times. (Quite a big distance for me.) Also i no longer need the 'toilet frame' the hospital insisted I would .
So it's getting easier - slowly.

Oh I am seriously cheering for you over here! That's bloody brilliant. Knee replacements are painful but they are also life changing so it is fantastic to hear your effort and your progress 🤗

Had a new adapted kitchen fitted this week( disabled) spent a productive day putting everything back into the cupboards and on pull down shelves
Filled a bin bag of surplus from " old kitchen"
Will be life changing

PauliesWalnuts · 31/03/2024 22:45

That really does sound life changing @uncomfortablydumb53 - wishing you lots of happy cooking!

I gave the allotment a good weed, and planted red and brown onions and first early potatoes, and moved my strawberries into a new bed so hopefully they’ll do better this summer.

18 year old really enjoy egg hunt!
We enjoyed a lovely Roast lamb dinner cooked by me and mum joined us.
I was lucky to receive 3 Easter eggs, what's not to love?!

What a lovely thread 🥰 had a wonderful lie in this morning as grandson is away with his maternal grandparents for the weekend. My son and I managed to finish moving half a house full of belongings from our shed onto a storage locker ready for our house move (been in temporary rented while sale goes through), then I cooked a roast crown of duck with roast potatoes and yorkshires, it was delicious! So I've had a really productive day x

Arsenal Women won the Conti Cup (after a very stressful match!) 🏆

Recovering from a broken ankle and paddling in the freezing cold sea was so soothing.

Also enjoyed sitting on the beach with hubbie and dog 🐶

Lovely walk in the sunshine too 🌞

Spending time relaxing with DD (I work full-time plus a second job and she’s home from uni so nice to spend time together)

Roast chicken with n’duja butter…😋

thoseinperil · 01/04/2024 00:18

Got to have family lunch at home with my beautiful Mil - she has cancer. Hoping she will make next Easter.

ShinyBandana · 01/04/2024 00:38

I cooked the perfect roast dinner including leg of lamb and a mushroom wellington for the vegetarians that I just created without a recipe and it was bloody lovely

And after lunch I was so full I could barely bend over to put my boots on but then had a nice walk with my mum and our dogs in the spring sunshine

Attended a 60th (diamond ) wedding anniversary party where not only the happy couple but also the bridesmaid and best man were all in attendance. And all in rude health! Such a happy celebration.

Jenasaurus · 01/04/2024 00:46

Flight to Cyprus all went well. Speedy check in, safe arrival. Quick transfer. Stress free Easter break

RefreshingCandour · 01/04/2024 00:48

My Yorkshire puddings were fucking amazing.

AnnieSnap · 01/04/2024 00:52

I’m just learning to crochet and I made no mistakes with it today. The sun shone all day. My team (Liverpool) won and is top of the league and my 11-month-old adolescent, hormonal (just coming into season) didn’t put a paw wrong all day 😀

TheChosenTwo · 01/04/2024 01:08

Got up early and did a really long walk with one of my dc who’s home from uni for the weekend. When we got back everyone else was just waking up.
The egg hunt for the dc (who are really too old for egg hunts 😂) was lovely, it was a bit sunny so I went and hid loads in the garden and sat on the lounger for the first time this year watching them all cavorting about, it made my heart so happy.
dh made all of us a giant brunch and then my mum, stepdad and brother came round for dinner.
Everyone has just left and I’m feeling really grateful for a nice simple life tbh.
Tomorrow I’m going to see a very poorly and very young friend who won’t be hear next Easter and it’s going to be really hard, I do try and be thankful every day for what I’ve got. Health being the main thing.

Lunch. Cooked by me. Excellent it was.

quince2figs · 01/04/2024 01:27

Sunny all day
planted some seeds
lovely walk along the towpath with my Labrador
I made herby focaccia bread - honestly delicious (and easy; no-knead)

Ooh I was just saying in the staff room how I want to try making my own bread but was worried about kneading!

I dug out some huge horrible shrubs in the garden root and all. So satisfying and have now a lovely fresh bed ready for planting.

Sparkleandshine231 · 01/04/2024 07:47

Finished the last of the washing and ironing post holiday - a Herculean task.

Cooked a lovely Easter lunch for DH and I and it all went well.

All whilst battling an awful coughing virus prob picked up on the plane.

'Today ' being yesterday..... Went to evensong at the Cathedral where my grandson is chorister. Lovely service, music very uplifting. Took him home afterwards and as he got out of the car he made an effort to lean through the seats to give me a kiss. Best thing ever.

@BresciaBike this is the recipe I used https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/focaccia

7g fast action yeast is one of the standard sachets from any supermarket.
Although the recipe says knead, I just mix it up in a large bowl for 2 minutes - I make the dough pretty wet, which is good for focaccia.

I used some oregano-infused olive oil, and added chopped sage and rosemary - would also be lovely with olives, garlic, cherry tomatoes

2 hours from start to finish :)

Focaccia recipe | Good Food

Make a simple, homemade version of this classic Italian bread. Serve our rosemary focaccia alongside pasta dishes or enjoy with green salads

Final leg of reducing email inbox reached - was 3,500 mails, now 100. Granted, a lot of those have been shoved into folders which also need editing, but Rome wasn't built in a day and all that.

It's not raining.
