The things you see in B&M!

Not being rude here BTW I'm constantly in B&M and love it 😂

But you see some right sights.

Yesterday a woman came in with a TV bracket and said her TV doesn't fit. So she wanted to exchange it for the one she had brought to the till.

Supervisor asks for receipt, she doesn't have one, so he refuses to exchange.

She goes ballistic and just grabs the new one and runs out of the shop!

He gives chase and they stand at the entrance whilst she's howling for him to get away from her. He grabs the bracket from her.

She then comes back in to get the old bracket and starts shouting at him again!

Then in the toiletries ailse a bloke takes a spray can of deodorant, uses it on both pits and puts it back!! 🤢

I once saw a man put a 4 pack of smarties down his pants too.

I was in Aldi once and two guys broke out of the emergency exit with two baskets full of goods. I was outside putting things in my car. The security guard barely batted an eyelid. Yet a few weeks later when I walked out with my paid for shopping still in a shopping basket (I’d forgotten my bags and was just taking it to my car) three employees stopped me and told me I couldn’t! They clearly know who’s going to listen to them and who they can’t catch!!

NeverendingRabbitHole · 30/03/2024 22:04

Wow no wonder people take things so brazenly if no-one ever confronts them.
Whatever happened to security staff?

I went in one. I was waiting in the queue holding a stack of large plastic boxes with about 4 people behind me. They clocked a new checkout opening, I was distracted by having to hold the pile of boxes, my arms were quaking. And THEY ALL RAN TO GET TO THE NEW TILL 😯😯😧. So fucking rude. Not a murmur of “you’re next”. Savage degenerates.

If you're not fast you're last!

as someone who once worked for the store on tills ....a new till opening is just that. There's no rule to say it has to be first from a previous que.

Last time I was at B&M I saw the local multi millionaire land owner (she owns a ‘stately’ home, numerous farms and great tracts of land) buying herself pot noodles, tinned pies and cheapo scented candles. Made me smile.

Findmebythesea1 · 30/03/2024 22:53

Reminds me of going to Poundland. Went this weekend to get the kids some Easter bits, I try not to judge but some people do make it exceptionally difficult… that’s all I’ll say.

Chased after a young couple with a an old fashioned covered shopping trolley once, when younger, when I realised they had gone along a shelf of videos ( VCR’s) which were not properly alarmed and taken loads of them.

It was many years ago, and the Manager was off at the gym instead of being in store working, and helping the staff fix the dreadful old alarms

Most of the videos were so old at the time, that we had sold them off as ex rental at another firm I worked for . ( they were really old models)

They got away, vehicle waiting, and they’d cleared out another superstore next to us, but their staff hadn’t noticed, until I had gone , in and asked them if they had had anything stolen too 🤣🤣

Shoplifters are becoming increasingly violent. Who would risk their life for the sake of a bottle of vodka?

I wouldn't, but the other day I saw an Aldi sales assistant throw out a shoplifter who was trying to make off with a bag of easy peelers inside his jacket. He (the assistant) wasn't even a big guy.
At a Home Bargains checkout, DH was approached by a bloke behind us in the queue, who wanted to give him the money for his shopping so that it could go through with our order. DH was so confused he let him go in front of us. We had less in our basket than he did. The checkout woman snorted and said 'You should have smacked him one'.

I one Christmas saw 2 lads leg it out of Tesco in Mansfield with a 60 inch television, just picked it up & legged it.

MintTwirl · 31/03/2024 00:08

In our local Asda I saw a supervisor/manager( shirt and tie rather than usual Asda uniform) challenging a teen who was walking around eating stuff he had picked up in the bakery. The teen was bigger/broader than the Asda worker and started pushing him about and into shelving etc and threatening him. As I was leaving two police cars pulled up and officers came in to store, I was quite surprised tbh both that the member of staff had challenged the teen and that the police actually turned up and quite quickly too.

In Lidl the man serving me one time suddenly vaulted over the till and made off after a shoplifter. I was pretty impressed with his vaulting skills, he must be doing it all the time!

Niece works in Waitrose and recommends that 2-3pm is a good time to shoplift 🤦‍♀️in our local store. The staff are tired and CBH to care by then . They have been at work since 7am !

My other half worked at homebase years ago - some random shopper once left a massive turd in one of those display toilets. literally in those pop up bathrooms on the shop floor.. lol still cracks me up now 🤣
I don't know what goes through peoples minds.

I saw a guy pick up a hairbrush off the shelf, brush his greasy hair with it and put it back on the shelf!

Have seen this in Boots too, went to pick up a hairbrush for my GD and every hairbrush had hairs on them ! I went to tell a member of staff and she took every one of these hairbrushes off the shelf.

FinneganFois · 31/03/2024 00:50

@JanesTeddy
"the security guard was nearly bitten and the poor Rabbit struggling not to get thumped"
I had to read this twice, I thought it read "humped" !!! Grin

Tripur · 31/03/2024 02:01

Shoplifting is normalised now. I think there's a few things going on - lack of visible staff presence and increasing automation makes any interaction with a retailer feel like it happens at one remove; obviously people have less money; increased awareness of dodgy pricing tactics - like, if shops aren't playing fair, why should customers?

But whatever the reason it is happening all the time.

FrenchFancie · 31/03/2024 07:10

Apparently the owner of our local cost cutter once stopped a shoplifter by bashing him over the head with a bottle of champagne. This probably tells you quite a bit about the area I live in Lol!!

ive never seen shoplifting, but then I’m probably just oblivious as supermarkets stress me out and I just want to shop and go as fast as possible!!

whatisforteamum · 31/03/2024 07:22

B and M yesterday.
We went looking at garden side tables.
This woman knocked into me and took both.No apologies 😂
We literally couldn't believe it.

Trickofthetrade · 31/03/2024 07:48

This post is very depressing. In fact any time I go into B and M or Home Bargains or Primark I come out feeling depressed .

You can't move in my town for home bargains or b&m
I had to google map once for the address of one and I think we have 5 of each. Also 4 x Aldi Confused

Bloody hell, jealous of all your Aldi’s!

Heatherjayne1972 · 31/03/2024 09:00

We have a man who walks around b+m with a parrot on his shoulder

also they put things outside the front doors - things like plants and bags of compost
I’ve seen people drive up take plants/ charcoal / compost etc and drive away

PurpleChrayn · 31/03/2024 09:19

Aren't poor people outrageous??

Flaskfan · 31/03/2024 09:20

Love B&m. My shoplifting experience was hearing staff shout:"you can't use that door!" As a woman legged it, with a full basket. Her teenage daughter sauntered after her, laughing, and they both got into a massive, white 73 plate suv. Staff came outside to take a photo of the car, but I'm assuming nothing actually got done.

Every day's a schoolday. I haven't seen any of this and its been properly entertaining, especially the Giant Rabbit 🐰

historygeek · 31/03/2024 09:25

I once saw a Staffordshire Bull Terrier do a shit in the shampoo aisle of Poundland in Bradford
