Tell me about your Easter Sunday.

I love Easter, for me it’s like a less stressful Christmas.

I have 3 DC, all but one teens but we still do an annual Easter egg hunt with friends, DH cooks a leg of lamb and makes his famous mini egg cheese cake.

The girls come down to a little bundle of eggs and pair of riding socks (evolves from me always getting some white frilly socks when I was little with my eggs)

Sometimes we have family visiting which is nice (I’m weirdly selfish with Christmas but gregarious with Easter)

We often do a cocktail to have mid afternoon and a tacky bonnet making competition or similar and it’s all round just a lovely day.

Id love to hear how everyone else spends their Easter Sunday.

We will go for a walk with immediate extended family before meeting up with wider extended family where we'll put on an Easter egg hunt for the kids (11 of them now). We're having a BBQ at my aunt's where we're having leg of lamb. There are 7 families and each one brings a salad dish. We swap around each year with who hosts. It's a really lovely time of year.

The late afternoon will be a lazy one. Will probably eat chocolate and watch a film. Off to see more family on Monday for another meal.

Every year I buy a bag of Easter bunnies & hide them all with clues, if my DD finds them, she gets a gift. One year the bunnies were all friends, Last year they were siblings, this years they’re nieces & nephews. The gift is a kids safe as I’m trying desperately to get her to save!

She’s 7.5 now so the clues are more challenging so I’ve (after 4 glasses of Prosecco) just written clues & hidden them & hope in the morning, I can remember where they are🤣

Then in the afternoon, she goes to grandparents while I go to lunch & drinks with my friends. I love having 4 days off work mostly.

AFreshCleanStart · 30/03/2024 22:43

It's just another day for us. The kids wake up and can open the chocolate my mum and siblings have given them and then we Sunday on as normal

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 30/03/2024 22:46

DDs will wake up to their Easter eggs outside their bedroom doors. Breakfast consists of pancakes and hot cross buns. Easter egg hunt in the garden, then this year we will pack a picnic and head to eat lunch somewhere, but we’ll be going to the donkey/horse sanctuary this year which will be nice. Well head back and I’ll make a lamb roast using my rosemary from the garden.

Nah none of that fuss!

Never heard it compared to Christmas before!

Really? Both are religious holidays…

mollyfolk · 30/03/2024 23:13

i will wake early and hide eggs in the garden for the Easter egg hunt. Then a very light breakfast as we are having a full roast dinner quite early. We have friends and family coming for that . We will all go to an local Easter event afterwards which is for families and then back for cheese boards, a meat platter and wine/espresso martinis for the adults and time for the kids to gorge on the chocolate.

it’s one of my favourite holidays. I’m in it for the food and day drinking!

SwordToFlamethrower · 30/03/2024 23:37

I celebrated Ostara 2 weeks ago. Went foraging and made soup from the things I gathered.

We don't celebrate Easter. It is literally a chocolate festival if you're not a devout Christian. Not bothered about overpriced chocolate.

wejammin · 31/03/2024 00:54

We had a small Ostara celebration on the equinox. Easter weekend for us is all about chocolate, food and abundance. We're celebrating spring and new life. We're staying at my parents' tonight, I've set out the egg hunt for the morning. DC are 5, 9 and 12.
In the morning they'll hunt for their eggs and they've also got gifts, my mum always got us Easter presents and I've carried that on, any excuse to give them gifts. DS1 has new Rubik's cubes and headphones, DD has a bracelet making set and a glue gun, DS2 has a play ice cream stall.
Then we'll eat hot cross buns and chocolate and watch movies.
My sister and gran are coming round for roast dinner. We might go for a walk. I love it.

HeddaGarbled · 31/03/2024 02:04

Lie in. Sunday papers (village Co-op’s open). A bit of life admin and household chores. H will probably be gardening. I am going to do a roast chicken dinner in the evening, though.

decionsdecisions62 · 31/03/2024 02:19

Going to visit my brothers grave with husband, my daughters and my other brother. Not really like Christmas if I'm honest. Just choosing today as everyone is off work.

KeenGoldCat · 31/03/2024 03:52

In previous years DH and I have had his family round for a roast leg of lamb.
This year we're heading off to Cornwall on Sunday for a week, just the two of us.
The religious aspect of Easter is lost on me and I'm not a fan of easter eggs - I'd rather have a nice slice of cake.

Ruralrules · 31/03/2024 04:00

6.00am mountain top church service, followed by a family breakfast, egg hunt in the garden and then a visit to some elderly relatives. Easter lunch and a walk with the dogs.

Ozgirl75 · 31/03/2024 04:04

I do an egg hunt for the kids with ridiculously hard brain teasers that they love. They’re 11 and 13 and request it every year. We’ve just had a fish BBQ for lunch (we’re in Aus). Afternoon kids will mooch about on bikes, I’ve got a book to read. Kind of like a normal Sunday but with a nicer BBQ and more chocolate.

merrymelodies · 31/03/2024 04:23

Ten o'clock church service followed by family Easter lunch and lots of chocolate. I love Easter!DaffodilEaster Grin

MinnieMountain · 31/03/2024 05:58

I’m swimming in the lido at 7. DH and DS should just be up when I get back given the clock change.

Hot cross buns for breakfast.

FIL, MIL and step-MIL are coming for a BBQ. We’re going to ask FIL to hide the eggs for the Easter egg hunt.

JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle · 31/03/2024 06:37

We spend it in our tiny cabin in the mountains. Kids have a map and a little egg hunt. We snowboard all day then have food around the firepit outside.

ZenNudist · 31/03/2024 06:43

I'm on holiday. Chose a place with a beautiful cathedral. Going to mass first thing. Then out for brunch and a walk around sightseeing. Taking chocolate eggs so going to do egg hunts in the park. Evening meal in a cool restaurant.

Happy Easter everyone!

Sunnnybunny72 · 31/03/2024 07:01

Off to PIL with teens and also meet with SIL, BIL and nephews. Will be nice to have all four boys home from uni. FIL has stage 4 cancer and deteriorating so can't help thinking it will be the last time we are all together. Having a buffet for ease.
Bit of a strange one tbh.

fuckssaaaaake · 31/03/2024 08:11

Working then pizza :-)

Mumof1andacat · 31/03/2024 09:27

Dh is cleaning the patio. We'll have lunch the dh will go to work. I need to clean the bathroom, do a load of laundry, and help ds with some homework. We do have Easter eggs to eat, though

lap90 · 31/03/2024 09:31

A pretty relaxed day.

A nice breakfast, a Sunday roast later on, followed by Easter celebrations at Church and then drinks with friends.

Sweetladyjane · 31/03/2024 09:34

I went to the sunrise church service in the park this morning and am heading off to the normal service shortly. The DC, both teenagers are still in bed so I’ll poke them when I get back. They are at their dads this afternoon so I’ll be catching up on study and pottering around the house in peace.

budssbuddybud · 31/03/2024 09:50

Easter eggs given out in the morning.

Mass at 11am. We are Roman Catholic and it's the highlight of the Christian calendar.

Easter family celebratory dinner this afternoon and later walk the dog for some fresh air.

Happy Easter everyone xx
