How long does a tub of table salt last you?

We have just finished one, the tall Saxa one, and I can't remember how long we have had it. I think more than 2 years though. I was saying to my DH that I don't know how they make a profit, and he thought other households go through them more quickly. So, just wondering, what is others usage? Trivial I know!

I had the same thought yesterday as ours is running low, and I realised it’s been the same one that has been here since I first met DP 3.5 years ago 😅

My husband is the only one that uses table salt but I go through a lot of maldon and Celtic salt - I think the table salt we have is about three years old

Same! All sorts of salt in and on all sorts of things. Yum. My blood pressure is well low too!

Ours has been knocking about for years but then I only use it in an emergency if I'm out of sea salt in the grinder

I only replace when I move house.

DH prefers table salt and I like coarse sea salt so we have both but they both last about 2 months - I use for cooking and seasoning on almost everything though!

I use the pink himalayan salt from home bargains in the hope it will be a bit healthier, but who knows.
I've only realised after being in this conversation that I've used quite a bit because there's 360g of it and I've used most of it. I didn't think I used it excessively either.

We moved to the UK in July 2020 and the table salt we bought on our first trip to Tesco ran out this week.

I mostly only use it for baking though, when I need to measure out a particular quantity. For general cooking and seasoning I use rock salt in a grinder.

I think I'd use less of the 'table salt' than I do my himalayan pink one, but I've never thought of it until now.

We don't have one. If we did, it would last years and years. We get enough salt from some foods that have it in already, so we don't add it to anything we are cooking from scratch.

However, my mother used to use hers in a paste she made to keep the ants out of the house. And needed a bit each time she baked. So that would have gone in months.

I use Maldon so buy a box every 3 months or so. I did wonder similar about gravy browning - I bought a new one last year and wrote the month I opened it on it with a sharpie. I've got my money on it lasting another 4 years or so

Table salt probably lasts about 3 years. We get through a lot more sea salt flakes though, probably about a tub a month.

When I became vegan I learned lots of Indian, middle eastern and eastern Mediterranean recipes and realised that I had been underseasoning for years. My food tastes so so much better now and I think we get through 1 every six months.

I don’t think we have table salt. We do have Malden sea salt, maybe a box a year.

I brought ours when we got married, 9 years ago. I only just replaced it in December!

Table salt lasts me years. I go through a fair amount of sea salt in comparison.

Probably a decade. Very rarely use salt

Years, the only time anything other than a pinch gets used is for pork chops or crackling

Umm, I've just checked the best before date on our salt, and its 2015🙈
