Holidays abroad booked this year?

How many do you have booked if any? How long do you have 2 weeks or a week?
Do you prioritise holidays for your family every year?

We go every summer for 2 weeks. Planning another autumn break for a week but seems very indulgent. We do have the funds.

Oh, which ikos?
We are going to odisa, did dassia last year

Yes Odisia. Dassia was an extra £800 for the same week and i figured i could use that £800 towards my various UK trips instead🤣

Samsam23 · 26/03/2024 06:36

Disneyland (paris) may half term. Greece first week of summer holidays. Possibly Spain the last week of summer holidays

EveSix · 26/03/2024 06:37

We love holidays, but tend to prioritise the planet, so stick to UK breaks.
Reading this makes me... -what was the word a PP used upthread? Uncomfortable.

Currently in the middle of a 6 week multi centre holiday in Asia
Booked own flights, transfers
Accommodation is cheaper once booked at destinations

Then a holiday in UK, that was booked 1 year ago with friends

Then will book some more

No restrictions related to school holidays required

We're going on a cruise for a week in May. First time abroad in almost 8 years and youngest child's first time abroad full stop :)
All very excited!

Ah you'll love it! My first cruise I was 9 in 1992 on the Canberra! We've gone ever since! My lad loves them! His first one was when he was 4 and it was a delight! What ship are you going on and to where?!

2 weeks abroad in summer is a priority (above a better car or doing the house up) or expensive tech, clothes, haircuts etc. I spend very very little on myself, as does DH.

We also usually have a few days break in the UK, Easter or half term.

I think 2 trips abroad would be a bit much for our family of 5, especially in school holidays. I also think DC get a bit de-sensitised to the loveliness of going away if it's too frequent.

Waitingfordoggo · 26/03/2024 07:28

We’re going to Canada for ten days in July and then having a few days in Norway at the end of the summer to attend a wedding. We wouldn’t normally go abroad twice in a year, and usually just go to Europe so this year is more expensive than usual. Next year it’ll be camping in Europe or UK.

00deed1988 · 26/03/2024 07:29

We have Krakow next week for 5 nights, Turkey in August for 10 nights, Paris in October for 2 nights, Amsterdam in November for 2 nights and going to try and squeeze in a trip to either Germany or a theme park in Holland in July and a Europe Christmas Market in December. Plus we have a few UK breaks booked (just 1 or 2 nights in various theme parks around UK and a caravan!)

I tend to do overtime to pay for holidays plus my husband and I stopped smoking last year which has saved us money. Holidays are definitely a priority for us!

I didn't really have many holidays growing up and then had kids before a career so didn't really have money to holiday. Now I have a decent career so the kids come with us in most of them!

populgum · 26/03/2024 07:33

This year we have USA, Italy and Gran Canaria booked. Shorter breaks though, couldn't do 2 weeks in a block this year. Already have a holiday booked for 2025 and have started planning 2026 🤣 I love holidays!

populgum · 26/03/2024 07:36

And no we don't "empty savings" for holidays, we have a specific savings account for holidays, but we do prioritise that account quite heavily.

NotmySundaybest · 26/03/2024 08:19

Not sure why some find the thread uncomfortable?
If people work hard & can afford it then why not?

We’re on holiday in the UK at the moment (which is abroad for us), we’re going to Sitges for a week in the summer, but we’ll be stopping in a fair few places on the way their/back in our camper, we’ve planned a few of the stops already, we haven’t been to southern France before and we haven’t explored Germany much, so we’re looking forward to that.

IcecreamSprinkleToppings · 26/03/2024 08:37

My dream is to be permanently on holiday or atleast for a year

One day in the future....

We're going on Anthem of the Seas :) Spain and France it's our 3rd cruise, eldest's 2nd.... bloody love a cruise!

DamnNutella · 25/03/2024 21:38

@Lesina can I ask if you used a tour operator for Thailand or just booked yourself? It’s somewhere DH and I are considering for next year

Hi we just did ourselves :) it’s pretty easy.

troppibambini6 · 26/03/2024 18:30

We are going to Lytham on Friday for 3 nights
Turkey for a week in May
Cotswolds at the end of July for 4 nights
Spain for two weeks in august (two locations)

We are looking to maybe go away in October for some sun but are also renovating so depends on money.

Holidays are very important to us as a family.

Lisiantha · 26/03/2024 18:35

We take 2 weeks off work in a block. One week of it abroad in a villa, the other a staycation in the original sense of the word. Time together, day trips, takeaways, treats, but sleeping in our own beds every night.

I love holidays, my husband doesn't like being away so this is our compromise.

Crushed23 · 17/06/2024 12:00

Just booked 12 days in Crete next month.

Super excited as it’s been a hectic year so far (career uncertainty, medical treatment).

I haven’t been before but I have loved every Greek island I’ve visited.

Looking forward to recharging, getting lots of sun, and eating tonnes of delicious Greek food. 🥳
