Holidays abroad booked this year?

How many do you have booked if any? How long do you have 2 weeks or a week?
Do you prioritise holidays for your family every year?

We go every summer for 2 weeks. Planning another autumn break for a week but seems very indulgent. We do have the funds.

Cyprus 2 weeks end June, maybe Cyprus again for a week at end of Sept, different resort

Just me and DH, kids all grown up

we prioritise holidays , the house needs decorating and we would have to pay someone to do it as we have health problems but would rather spend the money on going to Cyprus, we do not spend anything during the year, only the bills and essentials, we do not go out here in the UK

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 25/03/2024 13:12

Always 2 holidays abroad a year, ideally Easter for between 10-14 days but being early last year and this we've used May HT instead, then another bigger trip in summer, this year for 11 days, last summer was 2.5 weeks, depends where we're going.
Holidays are our priority. We all love them and our 7yr old almost count's the days until each holiday :-)

RunningFromInsanity · 25/03/2024 13:14

I have 4 booked. South America, Norway and then several Asian countries. Super excited for the next 12 months!

Beezknees · 25/03/2024 13:14

Just one this year but it's Disney and as a lone parent I haven't got loads of spare cash.

I prioritise travel over absolutely everything aside from essentials. Rent, bills, food & clothing, then travel.

TrickyD · 25/03/2024 13:15

Short cruise in April around coast of Ireland. Small boat cruise around Venice and the lagoon in June. Both these just DH and me. Two weeks in Caribbean (with DH, two DSs and one partner, three DGCs) in August, then week skiing, (DH, two DSs two DGSs) booked for next February.
DH wants to go somewhere abroad in the autumn so no doubt we will.

MsSquiz · 25/03/2024 13:22

This year we have booked a week in June at Ikos Dassia in Corfu, a long weekend in August in Center Parcs and a week in October in Turkey.

We are also hoping to do a weekend in Edinburgh for DD2's 2nd birthday in May

Colinfromaccounts24 · 25/03/2024 13:24

Also prioritise travel/ holidays over anything else. Perhaps not sensible but I'd rather have experiences. give DC experiences than things. We have 2-3 trips abroad a year, not wildly extravagant - quite often one of them is camping. I too boggle at the cost of an AI package during school holidays. I'd rather have more but less expensive holidays. Completely understand that for many people camping is not a holiday, but I/ we are more the sightseeing types than the sunbathing types - though there must always be a pool for DD :)

MinnieMountain · 25/03/2024 13:26

We're going to Norfolk in May, Pembrokeshire in August and Munich in October.

I want to go to Corfu next year.

Holidays are a priority for our spending.

kitsuneghost · 25/03/2024 13:26

We will get to August and decide we need to synchronise some time off
This will probably be for Late Sep/Early Oct
Then we will probably start thinking where we want to go late August

Ruthietuthie · 25/03/2024 13:36

We are lucky to have jobs that allow us to travel for the whole summer, plus our child is in a place with long summer breaks.
We always go away over the winter break, usually for winter sun but this time we went to India for a month. At spring break, we always either ski or go to somewhere sunny - so it's either ski-ing in Park City, Utah, or Hawai'i. This summer, we have a month in Turkey planned, staying with family, a week in Barcelona (in early June), and a week in the UK. For Thanksgiving break, we also go away, usually to Hawai'i again.

SpringBunnies · 25/03/2024 13:48

Got two weeks booked for Easter and another 2 weeks for August.

NotmySundaybest · 25/03/2024 13:57

We have a caravan too so do long weekends through the year such as BHs.
X2 abroad seems indulgent but it looks like I'm not alone!

january- London
march- Pembrokeshire
May-cotswodls
July-Cornwall
December- Anglesey

MissAmbrosia · 25/03/2024 14:43

I have 2 weeks in Puglia booked for May and a long weekend in Berlin in August. Thinking of another trip for September but haven't decided yet. DH has just retired and my employer has just started to let us work out of the country so I am toying with the idea of planning a longer break somewhere warmer over the winter months - though I would have to work for half the time. The cat is an issue though. I'm travelling a lot for work at the moment too so my travel itch is quite well scratched at the moment.

EasterBunnny · 25/03/2024 15:21

February-Mexico for a week

March- Cyprus for a week

April- I am still deciding .

May - New York for five days

June- Switzerland for four days.

June- Turkey for ten days

August- Athens for a couple of days and then a week long Greek islands cruise.

September - Belgium for. Few days.

October/November- three week trip to China and Japan that includes a river cruise and an ocean cruise.

I like holidays.

Outoutoutshout · 25/03/2024 15:32

I feel like I'm on a different planet to most people here, especially when people are using 'only' and 'just' to describe several holidays a year. So, so lucky.
I'm lucky too but it's a different ballgame. I go away abroad about once every 2 years (once it was 5 years between). I rarely if ever go away other than that as it takes all my savings for that. I feel lucky to get that as so many people can't afford to ever go away or certainly not every couple of years.

It's a recession so this thread just doesn't sit comfortably with me.

How do you get that much annual leave let alone afford all that?

lotsofpeoplenametheirswords · 25/03/2024 15:40

We've got 4 booked for this year, we go Friday to Gran Canaria for a week, 4 nights in New York in May, a week in Lake Bled Slovenia in August and then a week in Orlando in October.

Holidays take priority over other things in our family.

Bs0u416d · 25/03/2024 15:50

Huge priority for us too. We've had a week's skiing already and then have booked a week in two difference Ikos resorts April then October. A week at a cottage in shropshire in June and a long weekend in Istnabul in May. Oh and a long weekend in Paris in August (after the Olympics finish!).

CeeJay81 · 25/03/2024 15:51

@Outoutoutshout I'm with you. We can't afford to go abroad every year either. However this thread isnt for us, it's for those who can afford to go multiple times a year and tbh if I could afford it I would, as I love travel and visiting other countries. Its ashame there is such a gap between the rich and the poor.

itsallabitofamystery · 25/03/2024 15:51

I always prioritise holidays. My view is I earn the money, so I want to enjoy some time away with my family.

This year I have 5 nights in Spain (April), 7 nights in Turkey (July), 9 nights in Cyprus (September) and 5 nights over the new year in Spain. Not bad to say I'm a terrible flyer.

Plump82 · 25/03/2024 15:52

We prioritise holidays as well.
We're just back from 9 days in Lanzarote.
We've booked 4 days in Berlin in July, 9 days in Málaga in September and 4 days in Barcelona in December.

What exactly do you want from this post? Same goes to the pp that made the snarky comment about high earners. If you’re not able to go on multiple holidays then why would you click on this thread when it’s clear what it’s about. People are excitedly sharing their plans and that makes you feel uncomfortable? I find that mind boggling and kind of annoying. It seems no one can talk about anything exciting or fun because the Debbie downers always arrive to piss on everyone’s parade.
