Mine is champagne problems by Taylor Swift. I don't think I've ever listened to it without crying! Luckily I had sunglasses on in the car and DS was asleep because I had a proper little sob to it today.

I'll Never Love Again , from a Star is born by Lady Gaga , I got tearful just by typing the the song title so I can't say anymore about it

SerafinasGoose · 25/03/2024 21:11

The song Jose sings for his dying mother in 'Carmen'. It was one of my mother's favourite operas and whenever I hear it, it makes the poignancy of her loss feel so much more immediate.

The old folk song 'Wayfaring Stranger', now covered by so many artists I've lost count. My favourite is Veerle Baetens'.

Agree with the PPs above. 'Silver Springs' is a beautiful track and Nicks' delivery is incredibly powerful.

Just wanted to leave this one: amour by Jean-Michel Blais.

I won't go into why but it's bittersweet and a beautiful piece to listen to.

Thank you to all that have shared, I've come across some lovely music via this thread.

Leaving on a jet plane.

It was in something the other day and reminded me my friend is leaving the country tomorrow.

The recent James Blunt song about baby loss - had to pull the car over cos I couldn’t see through the tears 😢. My 3 babies were lost over a decade ago but my twins would turn 18 this year and the wondering never goes away 😢.

I'm so sorry 💐

Abhannmor · 26/03/2024 10:07

Goodnight My Angel by Billy Joel. But the version that did me in was by the King's Singers.

Hélène79 · 26/03/2024 21:14

Dan Auerbach - Going Home.

Oganesson118 · 26/03/2024 21:16

All Of The Stars by Hayd.

Just that some of the lyrics hit me in the feels that day 🥺

PuppetQueen · 26/03/2024 21:27

Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars. It was played a lot when I was pregnant with DD1 and I always loved it.

Yesterday, I was cooking with her, and we were chatting about university applications, halls of residence etc. Chasing Cars came on the radio and I got quite teary. 17 years ago I was just waiting for her to arrive, and now she's almost ready to leave home!

Same song for me, but the original by the Kinks. Reminds me of the end of a friendship with someone special.

Also "Love Song" by The Cure.
Was listening to it recently whilst going through a minor bad patch with DH, and the "Whatever words I say, I will always love you" line just broke me because I realised it was true, so our tiff was silly and best forgotten.

MuthaHubbard · 26/03/2024 21:54

Wish you the best by Lewis Capaldi. I was ok until I saw the video, which was released not long before we had to have dcat put to sleep 😢

LlynTegid · 26/03/2024 21:54

Hawl y Fyw - when I found out why Daffyd Iwan wrote it. Translates as 'right to live'.

PennyPickles60 · 26/03/2024 23:20

Anfanof Angel. A Welsh song sung by my niece at my mums funeral. Just perfect and absolutely stunning. Just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine and tears to roll, no matter how many times I’ve listened to it ❤️

BreakfastAtMilliways · 26/03/2024 23:42

Schubert’s Der Lindenbaum, from Winterreise. It’s one of those nostalgic three-hanky tunes that they were very good at in the 19th century, coupled with devastating words (they have translated subtitles on YouTube) about never again being able to return to a source of comfort.

KitchenDancefloor · 26/03/2024 23:51

Rise up - Andra Day

Another pull the car over and weep song. I first heard it when I was caring for a terminally ill parent.

'I'll rise up, in spite of the ache
I'll rise up, and do it a thousand times again,
For you'

It felt like an indulgent moment of self pity before getting on with it all.
Still makes me cry every time.
