Mine is champagne problems by Taylor Swift. I don't think I've ever listened to it without crying! Luckily I had sunglasses on in the car and DS was asleep because I had a proper little sob to it today.

I watched the original video of the Riverdance performance at Eurovision and it had big tears rolling down my cheeks

What was I made for, Billie Eilish

Same! Embarrassing really as it’s from Barbie but it’s very moving.

Meadowflower2023 · 25/03/2024 19:33

Dance with my father - Luther Vandross
So strong - Labi Siffre
Tears in heaven - Eric Clapton
I'll see you again - Westlife

Can't listen to either of these without tears.

RaraRachael · 25/03/2024 19:35

Tell Me There's a Heaven by Chris Rea. Cannot listen to this.

NotMyDayJob · 25/03/2024 19:37

The girl who never was James Blunt. It came out when I had a few long distance work trips and I kept sobbing out the window on Cross Country.

Although a couple of times since I've listened to it if I want to have a good cry about my losses. I have two DDs now but there were quite a lot of losses in a short space of time and sometimes I can't quite believe it happened.

"I honestly love you" by Olivia Newton John.

Played a video of it (the 1983 Physical concert on YouTube) on the day of her death and was in floods of tears.

Never experienced anything like it! Never cried over any other song or singer.

Hurt by Johnny Cash. Usually does.

The NIN original, yes. The Johnny Cash cover just irritates me.

Don Maclean I’m not gonna miss you

he wrote it for his wife when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

I'm still here, but yet I'm gone
I don't play guitar or sing my songs
They never defined who I am
The man that loves you 'til the end

You're the last person I will love
You're the last face I will recall
And best of all, I'm not gonna miss you
I'm not gonna miss you
I'm not gonna miss you

I'm never gonna hold you like I did
Or say I love you to the kids
You're never gonna see it in my eyes
It's not gonna hurt me when you cry

I'm never gonna know what you go through
All the things I say or do
All the hurt and all the pain
One thing selfishly remains

I'm not gonna miss you
I'm not gonna miss you

Slipping through my fingers by ABBA. I have 3 girls, 2 now in their teens. Gets me every time!

APurpleSquirrel · 25/03/2024 19:44

Ronan by Taylor Swift - it's about a little boy who died from a brain tumour.
My mum also died from one 12 years ago, & just recently a girl in my DDs class has also just died from one - it cuts very deep for me but is an amazing song.

Not long after my Dad had died last year, Sounds of Silence (Simon and Garfunkel) came onto the radio one afternoon, and I had to pull the car over and just wept. Such a beautiful yet haunting song.

MissMarplesNiece · 25/03/2024 20:16

I don't know if it counts as a song, but I cried tonight while I was listening to Beethoven's Ode To Joy. It's such an amazing piece of music and he was completely deaf when he wrote it. Thinking about how he'd written it, but never heard it except in his head, made me cry even more.

Librarybooker · 25/03/2024 20:18

Somewhere Only We Know by Keane always makes me think of childhood and my late brother who passed away 5 years ago

igetwhatyoumean · 25/03/2024 20:20

There's a live performance of Joni Mitchell singing Both Sides Now which really gets me...

littleburn · 25/03/2024 20:26

Redemption Song at the end of the Bob Marley movie the other week. Before that, Nick Cave singing Rainy Night in Soho at Shane McGowan's funeral.

ChorizoDog · 25/03/2024 20:27

Someone you loved - Lewis Capaldi

I was getting used to being someone you loved. And now I’m just me.

I have a whole list of songs that remind me of my partner. He passed away last year.

What was I made for, Billie Eilish

Yup, me too, although on this occasion a beautifully arranged version for DC1's college choir and string orchestra.

Fleetwood Mac - Silver Springs. My husband left me a few months ago and it's exactly my feelings.

This is my absolutely favourite song. Stevie is magnificent.

TheEverlovingFork · 25/03/2024 20:37

Into My Arms - Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
