Mine is champagne problems by Taylor Swift. I don't think I've ever listened to it without crying! Luckily I had sunglasses on in the car and DS was asleep because I had a proper little sob to it today.

What I was made for by Billie Eilish

Ariana Grande has me a cracker last night with We Can't Be Friends, her live performance on SNL. I'm not a fan so have no idea where it came from!

CoastPath · 25/03/2024 14:13

Tell Me on a Sunday sung by Marti Webb. I listened to it again this morning. Beautiful and so sad.

Hapagirl48 · 25/03/2024 14:13

Pretty much everything off of Tracy Chapman's first album. I loved it as a teen and listened to it all the time. I started listening to it again recently because of the Grammy and how can so little have changed in 35 years?

MGMT - Time To Pretend

It doesn’t make me cry, but I get a lump in my throat and a shivery feeling every time I hear it. Not exactly sure why - it just reminds me of days gone by. I was at uni when this came out (2007!) I guess it reminds me of that time, my youth, old friends, that era
(just before social media) and how quickly time actually moves.

The lyrics are quite sad too when you understand what it’s about.

@vegetableplotter ❤️

The Living Years Mike and the Mechanics

I'm crying now just thinking about those two.

Not a song but the theme music to Ghost. Last night (damn you Classic FM). Together 44 years, DP died suddenly two years ago.

The Meryl Streep one at the end of Mama Mia 2. Totally sobbed. Tearing up thinking about it now 😭

Mumaway · 25/03/2024 14:49

None, ever. It's just a song.
I realise I'm in the minority, but I just don't get it. I don't think I'm a psychopath... My daughter has sung in a festival and a solo concert recently and while it was lovely, it doesn't make me emotional

BigTipTop · 25/03/2024 14:49

Taylor Swift - Bigger than the whole sky followed by Ronan. I've only listened to Ronan once it's absolutely heartbreaking.😭

HoHoHoliday · 25/03/2024 14:56

Living a boy's adventure tale by A-ha, I love the song anyway and it always makes me emotional but I listened to it earlier in floods of tears as I'm preparing to say goodbye to my beautiful fur-boy.

Never went to church - the streets. Every single time x

@Dracarys1 - slipping through my fingers gets me every time! My DD is 19 now. The words are so poignant 😢

Cesarina · 25/03/2024 15:12

Dracarys1 · 25/03/2024 13:07

Slipping through my Fingers by ABBA. My DD is only 7 but I can't quite believe how fast the years are going. I was probably time of the month hormonal too though!

@Dracarys1

I'll second that! 😢
Mine is "Now and Then", referred to as the Last Beatles Song.
The words and sentiment are so real and poignant for people that are missing loved ones.
And the video makes me long to have those times again and to have all 4 of them back together.

AllICanDoIsTry · 25/03/2024 15:15

@Hapagirl48 I've also been listening to Tracey Chapman loads recently, Behind the wall chokes me up every time.
The other day I was cleaning the kitchen and Baby can I hold you came on, my 6yo came in as I was just pottering around singing along, asked for a hug and started bawling his eyes out.

He's the same with You can close your eyes by James Taylor, I was instructed to stop singing it at bedtime because it makes him too sad, it seems I have sensitive wee soul on my hands!

Guaranteed tears also for In dreams (Roy Orbison, played at my grandads funeral), Into my arms (Nick Cave) and Ode to my family (Cranberries).

Came here to say Fast Car, always! Sublime storytelling, beautifully done.

Hapagirl48 · 25/03/2024 15:24

@TimPat Aww sensitive is lovely :) For me it's She's Got Her Ticket. Disenfranchised youth then and nothing much has changed now. It makes me sad.
@goldenlloyd Yes, it's such a sad song that I didn't really understand at 14.

Newuser75 · 25/03/2024 15:31

ABBA, slipping through my fingers for obvious reasons. Wires by athlete as it reminds me of when my son was in special care as a baby and the newish heaven song as it makes me think of my dad.

Willmafrockfit · 25/03/2024 15:33

"no place like home" from Wild Rose
Jessie Buckley

Alex Drake · 25/03/2024 15:38

Mine was Someone You Loved - Lewis Capaldi

I was at R1 big weekend last year with my 11year old and we had left the rest of our group and went to sit further away up the hill when Lewis was due to come on as the crowds were jostling a bit much for my boy.

It was a perfect night, the sun just beginning to set, the crowd's reaction to Lewis was amazing, just me and boy together. Then Lewis sang that song and it just broke me in a happy/sad way.

Even now when it's played on the radio I get a little lump in my throat (which the 11yr old finds hilarious).

ATWTMVTV (the Swifties will know) - driving home in the car today and weeping, good thing the roads were quiet!
