One bed, two duvets?

Does anyone do this? We have a superking bed and I am not sure if we should do two single duvets or two double duvets.

Two doubles - keeps both covered and allows for random throwing off or wrapping around as room and body temperatures change. Bliss.

dudsville · 24/03/2024 21:58

This was such a wonderful decision for us! Initially we had two doubles (super king bed), but dh decided he wanted a single. Being able to completely wrap up and know I'm not going to have to shift if he pulls it in the night is, as pp said, pure bliss.

flatpack1 · 24/03/2024 22:00

Yes we did this for years. Worked very well

We have 2 duvets. So much better! I'd go for two doubles on a super king bed.

OwlBasket · 24/03/2024 22:01

yy two doubles even on a smaller bed

reluctantbrit · 24/03/2024 22:11

We have a super king size and have two single duvets. No way we sleep well under one and two double are a bit too big.

RampantIvy · 24/03/2024 22:18

I don't understand why you need two doubles. Do people wrap the duvet completely round them?

We have a super king duvet and TBH I wish we had gone for two singles.

SocksShmocks · 24/03/2024 22:19

It’s the German way. Go for it.

BakedBeanAddict · 24/03/2024 23:05

We have one king duvet (on a king) for the ‘naice’ bedding to be on show, then drape two singles folding up at the bottom like throws. We sleep on the big duvet under a single each. It’s lovely and comfy.

Woahtherehoney · 24/03/2024 23:13

I have a king and have been considering this - random question though…how do you make the bed? Do you just line the singles up side by side as if it’s one whole cover?

OldBeyondMyYears · 24/03/2024 23:15

I lived in Germany for many years and this is how it's done there...makes perfect sense to me 🤣

Exactly what I want to know

It is the underwing hero of couples bliss in bed. Two duvets ! Both of us get the duvet, added bonus is they are quicker and easier to change, wash and dry than a larger duvet.
In the winter we have two single duvets with the king size duvet over the top, like a blanket. In summer we swap them over and sleep on the king size duvet, like an extra mattress and single duvets on top of us. All wool duvets for extra blissful snuggles. No night sweats for me and Dh gets some duvet guaranteed
edit. Yea just line the single duvets up side by side.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 24/03/2024 23:23

Yes it's brilliant, I have a double & my husband has a single. Bed changing is far easier than the super king size cover .

PepsiMaxandPringleStacks · 24/03/2024 23:24

I used to do this when we first got married. Best thing ever!!!!

Judylicious · 24/03/2024 23:28

I can't believe they don't teach you this before you move in with someone, and that I'd been married 5 years before I realised. 2 duvets is a game changer!

I have 2 King duvets on a king bed, because I already had them and king size bedding - if I was buying again I'd go for doubles. I put one on the bed normally and the other folded at the end like a throw in the daytime. Totally prevents any duvet wars.

MrsEllenGriswold · 24/03/2024 23:31

Yes. Two singles. Game changer.

MonsteraMama · 24/03/2024 23:32

Absolutely. I love my paper thin duvet and chilly gel mattress topper and my husband loves his ten million tog hell duvet and electric blanket. We are from different planets but separate duvets has allowed us to sleep mostly harmoniously next to each other.

Super king bed and we have a double duvet each.

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 24/03/2024 23:33

I have a double and DH has a single. SK bed

Yeah pretty much.

I live in Denmark where it’s the done thing but I hate it 😂

ZiriForGood · 24/03/2024 23:36

One double duvet each.

I just love having my duvet tucked under my feet and having my shoulders covered in the same time

pizzaHeart · 24/03/2024 23:41

Super king bed and 2 duvets. I have double and DH has a small double (a gift from abroad). He is actually thinking about buying normal double as well as his duvet is quite old.
To make the bed we fold each duvet in two and put alongside each other, then put bedspread over.

bluesatin · 24/03/2024 23:42

Neither. Sheets and blankets. I hate duvets - I never seem to be the right temperature and keep waking up.

SweetCinnamon · 24/03/2024 23:47

In Norway they all use two single duvets too!

madamepresident · 24/03/2024 23:52

We have separate- loads better
