Off to Lisbon next week for a few days and the forecast is awful.
We had lots of outdoor stuff planned, which we will still do but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for indoor activities for me and dp

oh dear Op i’m sorry

truth be told… there’s not a huge amount of indoor activities aside from eating and drinking. Yes there’s museums and beautiful architecture but the main highlight is walking to and from and around.

are you willing to perhaps hire a driver?!

Weather looks fine to me. Just bring a raincoat for the odd short shower.
No way would I be spending time indoors in such a great city.

The oceanarium is well worth a visit even as adults. It is really well designed and lots to see and read. Take a trip along the coast ( on the train) to Cascais and Estoril. The casino at Estoril is a nice place for a drink and Cascais has some fairly sheltered little streets to wander around.
Also, check the weather in Sintra- it seems to have its own microclimate so may well be very different. Sintra is beautiful and easy to get to from Lisbon.

It’s forecast 14-16 degrees, breezy and rainy most of the days

The tram museum is nice. Well we liked but it may not be your kind of thing. A trip on one of the little wooden trams is also good fun. And I would second the tile museum.

We visited lisbo in April. It rained non stop, we walked about all the time. Took the train to sintra. Admired the architecture and wisteria. Went up a Gothic looking tower for an incredible view. Ate a lot of pasties. Went to a fab small museum. Loads to do. Then took the train to porto to stay, it was also wonderful even though it rained .

I went there in November in the pouring rain. I just took an umbrella. I really enjoyed the trip.

The new(ish) quake museum is getting good reviews. Second the oceanarium, I could happily spend hours in there 🦈

if i ever find myself in an oceanarium on an adult only city break - I will know it’s not been quite the weekend away i’d hoped for!

I can easily find on google at least 3 that are in English, both the website and the rooms themselves.

If you're into food, do a tour with culinary backstreets - there is some walking but most of it's inside as you're visiting shops, cafes etc. I've done 5 in different places (including Lisbon) and they've always been amazing.

🙏

although again…. adult free weekend
away in lisbon… ideally it’s about what is unique to lisbon. Rather than something you can book up in your local town!

The carriage museum and the quake event are good. But it is unilkely to rain non stop - so take an umbrella and enjoy what the city has to offer.
