Quite obviously people are going to discuss this major breaking news. I hope Mumsnet will do their best to contain it all. We don't need 10+ threads on the same subject. I also think that it's perfectly possibly to shield your children from the news that you have a very serious illness if you choose to, and it seems that privilige has been removed from Kate because of the press and the public interest demands.

But you are essentially minimising her experience all in the name of championing the underdog ?? That’s not how it works, that’s not helpful or kind. Across the board cancer is awful - there are no winners no martyrs nobody is better off than then next person.

And as for all the other people I’ve seen on various threads saying oh but she will have the best care. I’ll tell you all something- I’ve had treatments and operations in both private and nhs hospitals. The main difference is NOT medical care , it’s the quality of the bedlinen a private room and much better food - which half the time you feel too unwell to enjoy. Shes always had almost instant access to a consultant anyway so that will be nothing new so all these comparisons aren’t relevant.

This beautiful lady will have access to the best medical services and has been diagnosed very early it seems as the chemo is preventative. She will living her life away from the press and only concerned about her own health and family, the media stuff will be dealt with by others. I so hope she has found a way to just not get involved with the pressure from the hounding and can cut herself off from it all. Honestly, just leave her be, as anyone would want to, please concentrate on treatment and getting better, as she will be as nothing else in the outside world matters when going through it. Xx

Indeed, why do the press have to hound. If a statement has been made of surgery and further updates will be given when they want to. All for sales and profit to be the first to share the most intimate details of someone's private life. So sorry Kate 😞

There have been some awful posts on threads here over the past few weeks. Accusing William of an affair, speculating divorce, the farm shop photo definitely wasn't her etc etc and all sorts of wild conspiracy theories. I hope those people are ashamed to be honest.

I feel so sorry for her having to process this, tell her children all whilst the press and morons on social media have been hounding her. That poor woman.

God love her, she's so young. What a terrible few months she's had to go through with this awful diagnosis and how the public were so vile towards her. Her poor kids and William 😔
