Not wanting to go on a girls weekend if sharing a hotel room?

I've been invited on a 3 night long weekend break.
With a friend and 2 of her friends.
Thing is it's all of us in one room with bunkbeds.
They want cheap and cheerful and this is where they picked.
Room looks tiny
I like my own space and for 3 nights it seems like hell.
Would anyone else be put off too ?

Absolutely no! I would not do this. I'm afraid if I couldn't have my own room then I just wouldn't go.

minipie · 21/03/2024 22:44

Tell them you snore and book a nearby hotel.

ruffles23 · 21/03/2024 22:47

I doubt you'll care once you've had a few drinks but the mornings....ugh no. I need my own space to get ready and I wouldn't like the bathroom setup at all. Years ago we'd cram loads of us into one room, sleeping on floors and caring not one jot about having to share one tiny loo but not these days. No way.

It'll be awkward trying to explain why you're booking into a separate hotel but honestly for me it would be that or nothing.

feathers7 · 21/03/2024 22:47

I would definitely share.I love & cherish the time away with friends. I'd feel I was missing out if I went off to my own room!

StripeyDeckchair · 21/03/2024 23:02

No, wouldn't be going, especially for 3 nights.

I need my own room & my own bathroom or I'm staying at home.

PyongyangKipperbang · 21/03/2024 23:26

Fuck no..... I get my own room, that is my non negotiable.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 21/03/2024 23:42

No chance. I'd be crippled with wind all weekend!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 21/03/2024 23:50

When going on a holiday/short break I adhere to the principle that I won’t put up with a standard that is less than my own home. I’d rather not go than do a cheap break.

lap90 · 22/03/2024 00:02

I dont mind sharing (with one other person max) but no to bunk beds.

coxesorangepippin · 22/03/2024 01:05

Yeah, not for me

teenagetantrums · 22/03/2024 01:10

I never share a room now, maybe 30 years ago, but I'm old and snore, l wouldn't go unless l could have my own room

DramaAlpaca · 22/03/2024 01:14

I couldn't. I can just about share with DH on holiday (we have separate rooms at home, we both snore Blush) but hell would freeze over before I'd agree to share with anyone else. Just no.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 22/03/2024 01:40

No, from me too

judgementfail · 22/03/2024 01:54

I wouldn't mind it but there's been plenty of times I've been invited to this kind of thing and someone's gone 'hell to the no... I need my own bed guys so I'm booking in to the hotel round the corner.'

cerisepanther73 · 22/03/2024 03:30

@Mazuslongtoenail
I prefer bunk beds

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 22/03/2024 04:10

Fine if I was 20 but not now in my 50's would drive me insane as used to my own space. Just see if you can book a single room and pay the extra yourself and just tell them you snore and don't want to keep them all awake.

StarlightLady · 22/03/2024 04:26

l might share a room depending on the friendship dynamics. But l would draw the line at mountaineering t(bunks) to go to bed.

pinkgirls · 22/03/2024 07:06

I've been looking at hotels and for an extra £85 we could have booked a room each at a hotel around the corner with breakfast !
Less than £30 extra a night !
Have mentioned it to them and they said no why pay more when it's somewhere to sleep only.
Think I'm gonna swerve this out as I know my friend will make a song and dance about me not sharing a room with them all.

Thanks for the update OP. I'd get out now too!

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/03/2024 09:02

Good god, no!

ohdamnitjanet · 22/03/2024 09:04

Not in a million years, but if I really wanted to spend time with them I’d see if there was a Travelodge nearby and book myself in.

HeadInTheSand0324 · 22/03/2024 09:05

It would be a big fat no from me!!!

Me and a colleague had to go on an overnight work conference a year or so ago and she assumed we’d share a room to keep the costs down and I made it clear I was not up for that plan.

She wasn’t impressed that I booked my own room and she took it very personally, but I don’t room share with any adults except my husband.

I need my space and my privacy.

MorrisZapp · 22/03/2024 09:05

If I can't afford a single room then I can't afford to travel.

ChoccieEgg49 · 22/03/2024 09:13

I would 💯 want my own room. I'm no longer in my 20s, I want privacy and sleep, plus alone time.

SirChenjins · 22/03/2024 09:35

That’s such a shame @pinkgirls ☹️
