Hello, I keep getting emails stating I've been thanked on MN. Is this something new? How can I thank people?

It’s the little icon under the post, second on from the left 👏🏼

Under your comments there are buttons to quote, thank, add post or report. It's a bit of a 'like' button but no-one but you can see who or how many people have thanked you.

Oh I wondered what that was. I was thanked last week, came on couldn't see any mention of my name etc

Must be different on the mobile app.

You can change setting on the web version to stop notifications

I was thanked too - looked to see what it was for, my comment was a bit funny in a snarkey way (deserved snark, very goady thread), the thanks made me feel seen!

I think the thank function is a work in progress

It's annoying that we can't see this or thank people on the app. MNHQ need to make the app work in the same way as the website really.

I started getting emails a couple of weeks ago, but as far as I know, the 'thanks' feature has been around for a while now.

It is sometimes quite surprising the things people thank you for saying!!

No it’s not. If you’ve got thanks I get your post, click it and it tells you who thanked you

Thanking is anonymous to us, but you can see who has thanked you in your email notification...(you will see wot I mean hopefully 😉)

It's not anonymous - the emails say who has thanked you

You need to go into your profile and settings and turn off email notifications.

Why can’t they just make it a like?

I don't get emails but can see who's thanked me on my post.
I've been thanked a few times, it's been quite heartening to have been thanked on posts where my opinion differs from the majority.

On the App its under "more settings" and it's in a drop down box.

Because Facebook !

I use it more as a like - thanks just doesn’t fit
