THC vapes spiked with spice rife in schools...

We have letters warning us that children have been hospitalised due to vaping unknown substances. Other schools all over our town have also had issues and children arrested for dealing or hospitalised. Tonight a 14 year old child from my son's school died from vaping THC spiked with spice and other substances. How can we stop this? I know we can educate our children and talk to them but these vapes are everywhere. The government have been too slow to react to this market.

Sorry, but Googling "14 year old vaping dead" does not bring up any recent stories

This sounds like deliberate scaremongering or creepypasta

I don't think it have been officially announced yet. It's at my child's school and I've heard it from parent that knows the family.

Afaik no one's actually found any dodgy substances in vapes anywhere; there's just a lot of chat about it. Try not to worry OP. There's always urban myths doing the rounds.

You've heard a child has died and reposted it on social media but there's no evidence whatsoever? Crikey.

You've even got the cause of death in there yet they only died tonight?

Kids being hospitalised and left in a coma.....only a matter of time

I see the effects of spice daily. It's not pretty

Yeah but nobody's going to give their drugs away for free in random vapes.

Actually there have been reports all over the UK about vapes being spiked with spice and kids recently being hospitalised in the UK. Head teachers have been warning parents and pupils after other children have been hospitalised. This has been an ongoing problem.

Kids think they are buying THC vapes, they aren't being given away from free. Spice is alot cheaper and highly addictive.

These are apparently vapes being sold as containing weed but they actually contain spice which is cheaper and more dangerous. I'm usually sceptical about these stories but we've had our local drug service sharing this warning and I am aware of 2 teenagers taken to hospital through vaping 'weed' which I found really hard to understand since cannabis might make you feel dodgy but doesn't usually require hospitalisation. I think this is plausible.

There is no record of any such death, so you possibly need to check your source.

Well I hope my source is wrong however this problem is very real. Children have been hospitalised because of it.

This sounds like a classic moral panic in response to an urban legend.

As this isn't regulated (obvs) there are going to be different strengths

Some will be lethal

There are some odd responses on here. Surely children vaping AT ALL is of concern and additional support in the messaging would be a welcome thing - with or without additional drugs added. The IF there are additional chemicals being added which could cause harm, that elevates the need higher?

If you are stating that a child has died, it is very important to be sure of that fact before using it to stir up anxiety.

It is definitely not enough to say "Well it is a worrying issue anyway, it doesn't really matter whether a child died or not".

OP has used no names or location, don’t be so melodramatic @TakeOnFlea

@Totallybannanas I agree this is a massive problem in schools. I am a secondary teacher and we have had ambulances to school numerous times. It’s very concerning and friends who work in other schools have confirmed the same. They are being sold via snap chat and just look like normal vapes, which sadly parents often permit!

It also causes agressive behaviour.

Melodramatic, fucking love it 🤣 it's not me anonymously spreading rumours about dead kids

Sadly you are so wrong. It is absolutely rife in South Yorkshire. I have confiscated numerous ‘vapes’ and dealt with the aftermath. We haven’t had any deaths in our LA but I do think it’s only a matter of time.

@Totallybannanas is correct, this is not a ‘daily mail moral panic’ . It’s terrifying and it’s needs tackling.

I truly hope that the information in the OP is just usual SM rumours (as in no child is actually dead) however the issue at the core of it is real, I'm not sure why it is being deemed as "moral panic"

It is a huge problem in Calderdale. There have been issues at most local schools and they are locking the toilets and monitoring them at breaks because of it.

I can tell you it won't be regular weed they're consuming, nuclear levels of synthetic THC Spice is a different thing entirely. It's like comparing a pint of absinthe to half a shandy.
