A Sunday night game to play :)

Kids and I were bored a few weekends ago and played this silly game

You have £250k to spend TONIGHT (Sunday night) before midnight.

All the money has to leave your account by the deadline and you need to get something "physical" for it (ie no investing in Bitcoin! but don't have to get the physical goods until they're ready).

You can't fly to a different time zone etc. to cheat the deadline.

Can't give it away.

If you don't spent it all, everything you've spent gets reversed out and stuff goes back.

How would you do it? Grin

Ooh, good game. My DH would love this!

Overthebow · 17/03/2024 21:14

I’d buy a number of new cars adding up to the £250k, then sell the ones I don’t want later on to get some of the money back.

Teats4twins · 17/03/2024 21:22

I'd start with a giant takeaway, then whilst stuffing my face do some serious online shopping, all designer stuff for myself and my twin daughters. A brand new car. Maybe even some outfits for the dog. Until the pennies are gone then slip into a food coma.

zaxxon · 17/03/2024 21:35

Fun!

I'd lay in a few cases of bubbly (if there's a kind that doesn't go off after a few years)

A custom made winter coat, double breasted with huge (fake) ostrich feather collar and cuffs

Really nice comfy yet sturdy antique wing chair for our front room, it will be mine and mine alone

Art, chosen by DP as I have no taste

And tickets to Hamilton (DD) & Steam vouchers (DS)

tobee · 17/03/2024 21:40

Probably a watch. Or 2 watches 😉

MartineBIT · 17/03/2024 21:43

Bordeaux en primeur from Berry Brothers- can buy it on the website now and sell on at a profit.

EveryKneeShallBow · 17/03/2024 21:43

Good game, good game! I’d buy a round the world first class ticket; travel wardrobe, accommodation in some lovely destination hotels, and cultural experiences in some fascinating places. Actually, could you make it 500,000?

scotstarstrikestwo · 17/03/2024 21:44

Lego

Probably a watch. Or 2 watches 😉

That's what DH said. Two Rolexes.

rufioooooo · 17/03/2024 21:46

Some sort of villa or property abroad. I'm not fussy about where. Italy or Spain would be nice. Or Greece.

MamaAndTheSofa · 17/03/2024 21:48

scotstarstrikestwo · 17/03/2024 21:44

Lego

Me too. I'd be on the Lego website buying every set I could lay my hands on. Might also get some books.

Shiningout · 17/03/2024 21:49

A nice house

NCA24 · 17/03/2024 21:50

@Overthebow how will you buy a car right now and the money leave your account?

OP posts:
NCA24 · 17/03/2024 21:51

Guys - you cannot buy a house or cars or a made to measure anything at 10pm on a Sunday night can you?!??

The most expensive thing we could find to buy on harrods was only £30k

OP posts:
GameOfJones · 17/03/2024 22:08

I've just checked the Tiffany website and one necklace is £72k so I'd blow most of it there, in the hope that I'd sell it on to get some money back to pay off the mortgage 😁.

I'd book an Antarctic cruise holiday, that costs a fortune and I'd love to do it.

Champagne with anything left over.

NCA24 · 17/03/2024 22:18

@GameOfJones are you sure it's not only available in store ;)

This is why it's a game! It's quite hard!

1 hour and 40 mins left!

Shopping spree in Harrods

Invest in some artwork from a gallery maybe ?

Doing up the house and still need to buy some furniture and accessories so maybe high end versions

Luxury holiday

Justgivemehotchocolate · 17/03/2024 22:26

i would replace almost all of our furniture with shiny new stuff, but worked out that would only be about £10-£20k, until I saw your post about Harrods so I had a look around there and realised we will also need some new bedding for our shiny new expensive beds, ( £5,000 for a new duvet cover, 👍)

New bikes for everyone, and any kit required, that could add up quickly.

Ds’s would be let loose on the Lego website.

Loads of new clothes.

Amazon wish list/save for later would have to go straight back in the basket.

im struggling now, still got £50-£100k to spend!

BearlyUp · 17/03/2024 22:29

Designer handbags (both second hand and new), old booze, first class flights & hotel rooms.
I could spend £250k in 1 hr 30 mins!

EmmaEmerald · 17/03/2024 22:33

Spend by midnight- can I include booking a luxury suite in a hotel? Or any holiday?

if so, that’s a big chunk of mine gone. How long can you live in a suite at the Shard or the Ritz or something for that money?

I could have a country hotel too.

can I employ a chauffeur by midnight? 😂

CrushingOnRubies · 17/03/2024 22:36

Also need want a couple of new bags. That's 10k gone there

NCA24 · 17/03/2024 22:40

See @Justgivemehotchocolate £250k is almost impossible! Grin

I'd just buy gold in coins to avoid CGT.
144 1oz 24ct coins to be precise.
