Cantstopwontstop101 · 17/03/2024 14:28

Really devastated I have broken a piggy bank I brought in a charity shop, really beautiful and unique can't find another anywhere. And only just found online there are ceramic repairs, to late as I put it in the bin. More devastated now ive put it in the bin. I dont know what I want out of this thread but just to talk and make me feel better I'm heartbroken 💔 sorry if you all think I'm mad!!😭

Yes - my late Mum's trifle bowl that housed a thousand trifles when I was growing up. One of few possessions I had of my Mum's after she died - It slipped from my fingers after I had used it a couple of years ago and smashed into a million pieces. I sobbed so much that day knowing I would never see it again

In case anyone notices it’s sold, don’t worry, I’ve now bought it and will get it posted to OP (not saying this for praise, just so everyone knows it will be in OP’s hands soon 😊).

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 17/03/2024 15:48

@HeartandSeoul 🥺🥰 what a kind gesture.

Luckycloverz · 17/03/2024 15:50

Yay, I love a successful item hunt 🥳
Anyone else got random items plus a photo to search from?

WettyBite · 17/03/2024 15:53

Wow @HeartandSeoul that’s a lovely thing to do.

PoochiesPinkEars · 17/03/2024 15:54

Oh god yes! A portmeirion butter dish that we all absolutely loved. I smashed it about 5 years ago and we all still mourn it. I did find one on eBay once but someone beat me to it. 😭
If anyone found it I'd be thrilled (not expecting presents, just tracking one down would be amazing!) I'll see if I can find a picture.

I am more than happy to help. We all need these small acts of friendship sometimes. I decided not to ask for postage fees (partly because I worry it may look like I’m scamming OP 😁!), but they’ll have more pennies to add to the piggy bank now 😄!

This has really warmed my heart today. What a wonderful kind thing to do x

Before my Dad died (25 years ago now) he got me a Poole pottery winter vine jug. He had no money as he had been made redundant but he wanted me to have a gift. I dropped it a couple of years ago and I was/am devastated. I felt like a lost a bit of him. Bloody silly, but you feel how you feel.

PoochiesPinkEars · 17/03/2024 15:59

Uh oh. Mine was the crazy daisy portmeirion butter dish. I found one at nearly £100. 😱
Think I'm just keep an eye on the charity shops on the off chance, that's a bit much.

That's so nice of you. Are you by any chance a good mug detective!?

harriethoyle · 17/03/2024 16:06

I brought a vase home from my late mother's house, maybe two weeks after she died. Set it on the counter to fill it with flowers, turned and knocked it with my arm. Cried for hours. It was a hideous 70s horror but it represented my whole childhood because I remembered it and the loss of the vase chimed in with the loss of DM 😢

Cantstopwontstop101 · 17/03/2024 16:13

Thank you to everyone that helped each and everyone of you 😊 have made my day 🥰 xxxx

You're welcome!

Yes, I was in Venice and went to Murano, bought my Italian loving friend a BEAUTIFUL Christmas bauble, absolutely stunning, I was so excited to give it to her the next day when I flew to where she was in Italy. Got back to the hotel, wanted to take another peek and dropped it on the floor. I was heartbroken! And never told her I bought it!

I was also coming to post about a beautiful bauble my friend got me. I was devastated! Every Christmas I think about it. It was hit by a more sturdy bauble.

@PossumintheHouse

you can get that Mr G mug on German Amazon but they won't ship to the UK. If you have any friends in Germany, they maybe able to help.

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/History-Heraldry-Personalised-Alphabet-Stoneware/dp/B07MFPTLYF

For anyone interested, if you have an amazon account you can use that to log into foreign amazons with the same email and user name. at least it's worked for me on the interenational one and the german one in the past.

I can’t take the credit for finding it on Vinted (not sure who that was right now) 😊.

Thank you, that is a lovely thing to say ☺️. It’s a small gesture I can do to bring a huge smile to someone’s face.
