My bedroom.

NC as obviously outing.

Just finished my bedroom.

Mutual exchanged for this house last year and my bedroom had no flooring down, just rough planks, constant splinters in my feet 😂 No curtains, it was grey and red previously, just didn't feel like my own space at all.

But finally finished my room and I love it so much.

It's lovely!!

Do you have a before pic?

This is the only one I have, taken when previous tenant was still there.

So have you polished the floorboards and added rugs?

No, it's laminate flooring now. There used to be a fireplace and all round that area the floorboards were taken up and replaced with ply board, in several places in fact so it would have been a big job to restore those areas.

Plus I just didn't have the time or money to restore them.

You're bedroom is gorgeous and I love how you achieved it on a budget looks so much more expensive

So you own the house? Sorry not following this train of thought

I think floorboard restoration is cheaper than laminate

3RingCircus · 18/03/2024 00:15

No, I don't. It's a housing association property but I'm free to decorate as I wish. I'm just not allowed to do any structural changes without permission.

I don't like floorboards personally and like I said they weren't in good condition and lots of gaps you could lose things down. And I just prefer laminate as it's easier to clean and maintain, plus there's padded underlay underneath to make it a bit warmer. Was freezing before! So it wasn't just a time and finance choice. Personal preference also.

The previous tenant always had carpet in the room but had taken it up.

It looks fab Op. And I really like that rug too, I’ve just added it to my wish list. Great work!

Thankyou!

I will update if I ever wash the rug as I feel a bit skeptical about that. Plus I think I'd have to take it to one of those 18kg washers at a petrol station 🤔

Love it. Looks so cosy and homely. How great to have such a big bedroom.

It's wonderful, my last house was tiny. We were severely overcrowded so it's just been magical really.

Amazing work! You've brought out the best in a lovely space.

Westiegirl3 · 18/03/2024 20:05

Your bedroom is absolutely stunning op and totally to my taste, can just imagine getting out of a lovely warm bath and curling up on the bed with a glass of wine and candles.

Amazing job!

JMSA · 18/03/2024 21:48

OP, a rug question for you!
Does it move and 'bunch up' a lot, or does it stay fixed/flat to the floor? Having your bed on top partially helps, I'm sure, but try to imagine it wasn't there Grin
Thanks in advance Star

tillyandmilly · 18/03/2024 21:53

Stunning! - very country house - and not a horrible grey colour in sight!
