What’s your favourite food when ill?

I’ve got this awful virus that everyone seems to have at the moment and have lost my appetite for real food.

I’m in need of a snack and not sure what to eat. I usually manage ice cream but had that for lunch!

thinking maybe rice pudding? Any suggestions for comfort food?

Toast and Cox’s Orange Pippins.

ScarletILumination · 15/03/2024 21:35

Boiled egg and soldiers. The more the merrier.

changemyspots · 15/03/2024 21:36

I’m currently thinking tinned peaches…feeling so lazy at the moment!

Heinz tomato soup with far too much black pepper, and slices of apple cut as thinly as crisps.

TheDandyLion · 15/03/2024 22:09

Cheese on toast

Therealjudgejudy · 15/03/2024 22:09

Hot and sour soup.

Or creamy mash with lots of gravy.

mamakoukla · 15/03/2024 22:09

Basmati rice with butter, freshly milked black pepper and cheese
Chicken soup

JaneIves · 15/03/2024 22:15

Chicken noodles. The Ko-lee onion chicken are the best.

notnowdennis · 15/03/2024 22:20

Marmite on toast or tomato soup are top picks.

if sore throat, then super noodles or ice cream.

if sick, hot blackcurrant or hot honey and lemon.

IVFlife · 15/03/2024 22:21

Salt n vinegar squares and a coke.

But maybe not with a sore throat

Annymania · 15/03/2024 22:21

I was very poorly earlier this week. Nasty tummy bug.

Tuesday - lucozade
Wednesday - a tbs of Greek Yoghurt in the morning, some new potatoes with a bit of philly for lunch and a salmon fillet baked with a couple of sliced new potatoes.
Thurday- Tbs greek Yoghurt, spoon of bran, mixed nuts and half a banana, lunch was the other salmon fillet and potatoes, dinner an avocado and strawberry mousse.
Today: usual Yoghurty breakfast, few new potatoes with a bit of philby for lunch when I felt hungry at 3pm, dinner chicken soup and a piece of fruit.

Still off coffee, drinking mint tea. Not much appetite, eating for strength.

MissyB1 · 15/03/2024 22:28

Porridge- pure comfort food.
wholemeal toast just with (real) butter.
malted milk biscuits.
Rice pudding.

FunnysInLaJardin · 15/03/2024 22:28

pot noodle, cup a soup and toast

Nudgethatjudge · 15/03/2024 22:30

Toast
Ready salted crisps.

Peachesandfizz · 15/03/2024 22:31

Marmite on toast - white bread.
Ham sandwich - buttered white bread. Maybe with added ready salted crisps.
Tomato soup with white bread.

I usually eat brown bread but everything has to be with white bread when I'm feeling poorly apparently!

yellowduckling1 · 15/03/2024 22:54

Marmite toast or supernoodles

JennyfromtheBlok · 15/03/2024 22:57

chattyness · 15/03/2024 22:58

Boiled basmati rice, mash a hardboiled egg , grate some cheese and mix in , if you've got some fresh parsley chop and chuck it on.So tasty and comforting.

BeaRF75 · 15/03/2024 23:06

Toast. Made with white bread out of a packet.
Mind you, it's my favourite food at any time, to be honest - food of the gods.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 15/03/2024 23:09

Pho

TyneTeas · 15/03/2024 23:09
