Is there any type of textures you can’t stand touching?

I can’t stand micro fibre. It makes me my skin crawl, my fingers curl and my spine literally shudders.

Polystyrene

Dry sponge, the man-made ones, natural sponge is fine.

Snap on the sponge front. They’re pretty much banned from the house, unless they’re natural or those rather tiny ramer sponges you used to get for baby bathing.

Also wet wool, the thought of biting down in it!! Horrific!!!
Oh thanks a lot for that @Hoppitybobbins! My teeth feel all on edge now! 😆🤣

Another vote for polystyrene. I hate the feel of it and just the thought of that squeaky noise it makes gives me the shivers!

Blue paper towels as well. My dd thinks I'm really weird, but touching them gives me the heebie jeebies 😬

Cotton wool 😬😬😬

Sgtmajormummy · 14/03/2024 23:21

Denby plates.

User14March · 15/03/2024 00:04

What causes this?

Isometimeswonder · 15/03/2024 00:08

Wood cutlery. The feel in my mouth is horrible! I'm OK touching wood though.

SOxon · 15/03/2024 00:15

chiffon

Flour! It sends shivers down my side

It makes me lose my breath. Anything powdery, have never discovered why?

SOxon · 15/03/2024 00:17

balloons!

Nohalfdecentusernameexists · 15/03/2024 00:47

Brand new anything made from fleece fabric, cotton wool, woolly fabrics and the nasty polyester 'wool' school jumpers my kids have to wear. Each and every one of them squeaks when rubbed together. The noise it makes actually makes me want to 🤢

I can't bring myself to eat anything that's vaguely similar to the texture of cooked egg, irrespective of cooking method. Even jelly skeeves me out.

DiscoBeat · 15/03/2024 00:55

My own skin when I've got the flu, it makes me feel all 'prickly'.

chesterelly1 · 15/03/2024 07:45

Feathers. Got through a Harry Styles concert with DD by telling myself every 5 minutes that all the feather boas were synthetic.

BeFrankforonce · 15/03/2024 08:00

Velvet and velour. Ugh.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 15/03/2024 08:13

Suedette, but not real suede.

For DH it's creaking cotton wool, but I suspect that's sound not feel.

DilemmaDelilah · 15/03/2024 09:03

Crumbs. I hate crumbs! Particularly crusty ones. My DH always clears the crumbs off the work surface for me before I clean it. And I have a special crumb tray and brush I use for clean crumbs (i.e. without butter, jam etc) on the dining table.

Absolutely this. I now carry a set of picnic cutlery in the car so on long journeys I can avoid the wooden cutlery at the service station. I also can't use wooden kitchen utensils, but now realise like a pp said that it's the feel of unvarnished wood that gives me the shudders.

I also can't abide the feel of raw fish skin/scales when prepping for cooking.

KirstenBlest · 15/03/2024 14:29

Wooden cutlery ruins the food. I'm OK with chip forks.

UnravellingTheWorld · 15/03/2024 14:42

Raw chicken

A block of cheese *shudder. I buy it slight and grated so I don't have to hold the block.

Memory foam pillows/mattresses make me want to puke. Why they are popular is beyond me

UnravellingTheWorld · 15/03/2024 14:42

Oh, and fresh ginger

Gnarly · 15/03/2024 14:50

Velvet and dry sponges / foam fillings from furniture. Absolutely grim.
I'm autistic and lots of the autistic people I know have similar opinions about textures.

I also have plastic cutlery that I carry with me! It's from a picnic set so used and washed over and over.
