Is there any type of textures you can’t stand touching?

I can’t stand micro fibre. It makes me my skin crawl, my fingers curl and my spine literally shudders.

Foam, like the sort inside cushions, mattresses etc. Makes my skin crawl! Can not stand it. Funny about some sponges aswel! Even thinking about it is making me shudder!

Cardboard egg boxes. Just thinking about them is making me shiver, the texture is awful...

Hummus.

DrSpartacular · 14/03/2024 19:10

Lenticular printed things <shudder>

The paperback cover of this book. It felt vaguely rubbery and grimy. Couldn't finish the book.

Microfibre cloths are nasty but they clean (eye) glasses brilliantly.

My friend can't bear textured waterproof nylon (e.g. Le Pliage bags and a couple of my raincoats). If you scratch it I think she might pass out!

Tootytoot78 · 14/03/2024 19:12

My Mum hated the texture of custard powder!

Yellowdaysaregood · 14/03/2024 19:12

Candlewick bed spread of the type prevalent in the seventies when sheets were still a thing. Euugh just thinking about them is making my teeth hurt

PenelopeClearwaterHalfblood · 14/03/2024 19:13

Oily things, especially rubbing oil or dry oil spray onto my skin. Yuck

Brokenfurnitureandroses · 14/03/2024 19:16

Can’t stand cotton wool. Strangely opposite to some other posters, I love the feel of wire wool, scrubbers and sand paper.

Raw chicken.

Me too

Blushingm · 14/03/2024 19:18

Sponge, foam, acrylic jumpers

OhmygodDont · 14/03/2024 19:18

Microfibre, wet towels and bathmats, bleach, grass that isn’t right. Peas, beans. Mash that’s lumpy but not rustic. Pillows without their cases. Anything that’s wet and lumpy like in the sink or in slime or whatever.
Moist cheese. Things that don’t feel how they look.

Lemonademoney · 14/03/2024 19:19

Another one for cotton wool - not as bad now but as a child it would make me cringe, especially if I had to tear it apart (think making snow scene pictures in primary school) argh

UpsideLeft · 14/03/2024 19:21

Mushy disgusting gunk that gets left in the kitchen trap

Looking at you DD

Moist cheese!!! The worst!!

Mine is those Aqua Beads. They make me want to vomit!

I've always hated Polysterene. Never met anyone else who felt the same, so I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! I also hate cardboard, so anything that comes in Polysterene AND in a cardboard box makes me shiver. And the mere thought of chalk makes the hairs on my arms stand on end.

Popplebop · 14/03/2024 19:29

I cannot, CANNOT bear the thought or touching paper after my fingers have been wet. Urgh makes my arm hairs stand up at the very thought 🫣

RosieCosy · 14/03/2024 19:34

Cotton wool. Touching it with my hands makes my teeth itch

Wineisgreat · 14/03/2024 19:45

Sponge

BlowDryRat · 14/03/2024 20:08

I feel the same about chalk.

KirstenBlest · 14/03/2024 20:10

Staples

sytycd · 14/03/2024 20:10

Microfibre cloths and foam like you get inside upholstery (and did I imagine horrible uncovered lumps of foam/sponge used as cushions in primary school in the 80's? Awful!)

LoobyDop · 14/03/2024 20:14

Specific textures, as opposed to things that are dirty and disgusting, no. Actual real slime is horrible and I would never touch it with bare hands, but I find the kids’ plastic version weirdly appealing. But there are plenty of textures that I don’t mind touching, but wouldn’t want to keep next to my skin in clothing. I particularly dislike the woolly, thick, stretchy kind of nylon that dries in five seconds and bobbles in ten.

Greenpolkadot · 14/03/2024 20:14

Jasper Ware

3 different family members- flour, cotton wool, rust.
