Is there any type of textures you can’t stand touching?

I can’t stand micro fibre. It makes me my skin crawl, my fingers curl and my spine literally shudders.

Cotton wool, why does it feel like it squeaks?
Wet hands on dry hair 🤢
Linen, like linen pants, when it's not lovely quality and it almost hard! I can't explain it!
Proper denim!
Paper, not writing on but if I ran my hands and fingers over it 🤢

Great thread!

Emery boards bleurgh
Ice lolly sticks

flyinghen · 14/03/2024 21:33

Cotton wool balls, any wool that isn't mercerised, microfibre, raw meat, cheap knitwear (not wool but cheap, scratchy etc.).

Packingcubesqueen · 14/03/2024 21:34

Any ‘dry’ textures, the worst of all being neoprene. I love microfibre strangely.

Tezza1 · 14/03/2024 21:35

Stainless steel appliances.

PaintedPottery · 14/03/2024 21:40

Nylon, as in linings in clothes, cagoules, umbrellas. That kind of feeling.

ThePoshUns · 14/03/2024 21:51

Urgh yes not keen on umbrellas

CountryShepherd · 14/03/2024 21:53

Brillo pads/wire wool/metal washing up scrubby things

Haribosweets · 14/03/2024 21:55

Velvet

Kwasi · 14/03/2024 21:56

Wet wood, such as lolly sticks or wooden spoons. I have literally come out in goose pimples thinking about it.

Nogain · 14/03/2024 22:00

A lot of these but also --- cats. Their fur is similar to overly fine microfiber and also it disturbs me to feel their delicate bodies under the fur! Ugh! But I've never met anyone who felt the same. Anyone?

The paperback cover of this book. It felt vaguely rubbery and grimy. Couldn't finish the book.

Microfibre cloths are nasty but they clean (eye) glasses brilliantly.

My friend can't bear textured waterproof nylon (e.g. Le Pliage bags and a couple of my raincoats). If you scratch it I think she might pass out!

That would be this book 😂🙄

Same as you OP. The way it catches on any bit of skin 🥶🤢🥶🤢

That and cotton wool, cotton wool being torn ewwwwwwrghhhh. Have to soak it in water immediately before use then it's more bearable!

I try to avoid both!

SirChenjins · 14/03/2024 22:16

Peach skin, kiwi skin and cotton wool

Clingfilm · 14/03/2024 22:29

That fuzzy green material you get on naff garden ornaments.
That modern floppy rubbery plastic that bags/toys are made from that looks grubby with fingerprints.
Velour.
Rubbing my palm on anything, uurgh, fingertips ok, palms, nooooo.

Mumofyellows · 14/03/2024 22:31

Shiny nylon coats!!

Rainbowbrite83 · 14/03/2024 22:37

Polystyrene 😬

ginandoreos · 14/03/2024 22:38

Peach skin on the tongue... kiwi fur... shudder. Oily washing up water. Any used dishcloth.

Mindovermatter247 · 14/03/2024 22:46

Sandpaper, and some classes that have certain design textures. Sets my teeth on edge.

citrinetrilogy · 14/03/2024 22:46

Slugs. Ugh. Something that does crop up fairly often, as I'm a keen gardener. Also the smooth cut surface of a banana if you slice one up.

And that very soft furry fabric that feels like chamois leather.

Kialla · 14/03/2024 22:51

Sponge. Makes every hair on my body stand up, I've been known to cry at the sight of a sponge and even seeing them used on TV makes me shudder.

I take DS to a play session in a gymnastics academy. They have a giant pit full of sponge blocks. I feel weird about touching him after he has been in there. If he got stuck, I'm not sure I could rescue him

toomuchlikemyusername · 14/03/2024 22:52

Wooden cutlery and lolly sticks. Also the paper straws that McDonalds give out. The thought of using either makes me shudder.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/03/2024 22:54

nylon tights. <shudder> wooden lollipop sticks. Paper straws. running leggings. Peach skin.

NellyTimes · 14/03/2024 22:54

Velvet - my skin is crawling just typing the word.

That teddy bear material that everything is made from now. They make duvet covers from it and I genuinely can't think of anything worse.

Putting tights on when you have dry skin on your hands.

DalinkLook · 14/03/2024 23:02

Some linens (though not others - I have a linen duvet cover I love.)

Cotton/polyester/viscose mix clothes. It feels like plastic sponge on my skin.
