I am good at spelling. Can do really long words. But two words I can never spell, no matter how hard I try:

Brocolli and cappucino

I'd say I'm good at spelling but I can't deal with principal / principle - I have to look it up every time I use the word!

Gonorrhoea - took me three attempts just then!

I work in sexual health so I have to spell it surprisingly often. I’m forever googling it and if my husband ever saw my search history and was a naturally suspicious MN type you’d be seeing a thread about me on here. 😂

Fortunately, my husband is well aware and it’s by far not the most suspicious thing I am regularly googling because of work.

I always have to think "The PrinciPAL is our pal, what a nice principal" to remember the difference

TroysMammy · 12/03/2024 22:07

Ophthalmology - eye clinic will do. Now I've looked it up, written it down and said it a few times I probably can now spell it.

Practise/Practice

I know one is a verb and the other a noun but whenever I have to use it I end up dithering and worrying that I've got them mixed up and then try to pick a synonym to avoid using it at all. Even more embarrassing because I'm an English teacher!!!
