What word can you NEVER spell? Even if you're good at spelling

I am good at spelling. Can do really long words. But two words I can never spell, no matter how hard I try:

Brocolli and cappucino

Trouble remembering the difference between affect and effect (actually effect isthe things you see whilst affect is a cause so maybe I'm getting better)

Stationary stands still and stationery is a bunch of office supplies. Despite getting it right I had to go check.

Also found bureaucracy difficult when @nocoolnamesleft mentioned it but I'm OK now because I reminded myself of bureau.

Deathraystare · 12/03/2024 19:24

Niece

The one that starts with D that Hastings got wrong. Cannot even remember it!!

There are some others but i don't remember them (reckon I will be trying to type them all tomorrow!

scratchyscratchy · 12/03/2024 19:24

Exercise (Thank you autocorrect!)

PrincessOfPreschool · 12/03/2024 19:04

Gauge? Guage? Guauge?

Came on to say exactly this. Every time.

Doesn’t It Run Really Horribly Over Each Ankle = Diarrhoea

Thank me later 🤣🤣

Mine is liaison. Which is annoying, considering I worked in liaison for years! I had to keep looking at my work pass 🤣🤣

But that doesn't even work. Where's the 'A'?? Maybe doesn't it ACTUALLY run blah blah blah....?

Diamondshmiamond · 12/03/2024 19:03

Grey. I always write it then think should it be gray?

Corridor I often misspell as Coridoor.
Calendar as calander.

Misspelling on a keyboard is hard though due to auto correct!

It's grEy in England and grAy in America 😉

Brocolli always gives me trouble! But my nemesis is calendar. I know it ends -ar, but I can never manage to type that without first inputting -er

Initiative and rhythm. Thank goodness for spellcheck.

Rhythm Helps Your Two Hips Move

Is how I remember it...

Geebray · 12/03/2024 19:27

thecatneuterer · 12/03/2024 19:21

Yup. That. And I have to write it a lot (vets). But no one can spell it so on all records it's written d++ by everyone.

Love that 😂

Locquacious/ locquatious / loquatious/ loquacious…

Runnerduck34 · 12/03/2024 19:28

Archaeology
Liaise
Have to really think about both of those.
But I think most of my spelling mistakes are to do with terrible typing .

Jewellery. No idea. Thank you autocorrect.

Oh gosh yes this one

Also relevant always gets me though when I see it written down I don't know why.

Carriedoesntlivehereanymore · 12/03/2024 19:29

guard
egypt

justasking111 · 12/03/2024 19:30

We had brass plaques at work on doors. On each floor the office supply room stated STATIONARY

I was the only person to notice, they stayed 😂

I get so many of these pesky vowel words wrong a disaster when doing crosswords

schnubbins · 12/03/2024 19:30

Definitely definitely

CatsForLife · 12/03/2024 19:30

Guarantee. That was my sixth attempt.

Nomorecoconutboosts · 12/03/2024 19:18

Yes privilege
want to replace the second i with an e.

used to get mixed up with practice/practise - there is no difference in American English which is easier!

how I remember it now is that practise is just the verb/doing word. Practising the violin.
but otherwise it’s practice as a noun such as the Doctor’s practice (or surgery/ medical centre)

I like to get a D in there as well - priviledge

You mean broccoli and cappuccino right? 🤣

cesearean
Or caesarean

shellshapes · 12/03/2024 19:02

ALWAYS diarrhoea.
Took me a couple tries then and I only just saw the word up this thread!
Problem is the autocorrect doesn't even come on because I get it so wrong every time 😅

Same!

Newsenmum · 12/03/2024 19:31

Also for some reason deodorant

coxesorangepippin · 12/03/2024 19:32

Did they stay because they were…stationary 👀🤣

Etherealcelestialbeing · 12/03/2024 19:33

Squirel
Squirell
Squirrell
Squirrel

Is one of this correct?

I once went for a teaching interview and had to sit a reading paper all about bloomin squirrels! I'm amazed they actually gave me the job afterwards

soundsys · 12/03/2024 19:33

Licence. Or license.
