Which film will you sit and watch when you find it whilst flicking through channels, even though you've seen it a hundred times?

Mine is The Talented Mr Ripley - I love it.

Hate To think how many late nights I've had due to that film.

Anyone else do this?

I was forgetting 'The Ladykillers'. What was the line - 'It's only a farthing on the premiums'?

Haha yes - Guinness explains it to Mrs Wilberforce - for this particular shipment, the money was insured, so in order to recoup their money, the insurance company simply adds a farthing to its premiums. So how much harm have we really done? One farthing's worth.

which is true

Then at the end when she's in the police station telling the sergeant about how all the robbers have vanished and she's got the money, she says that she knows it's only a farthing worth and he goes "yes, yes" and ushers her out.

There are so many!

Funny Face, which was on today. I only caught half of it but it didn't matter because I love the fashion and Audrey Hepburn is so beautiful to just look at.

Lots have been mentioned already and there'll be loads that I've forgotten but I'm a big fan of so many of the old black and white movies from the thirties, so as it celebrates its 90th birthday It Happened One Night which to me is a totally perfect film, Mr Smith Goes to Washington, You Can't Take it With You, All About Eve (which is not thirties but is black and white) and so many more.

Again not thirties and I even go to see this at the cinema nearly every Christmas, It's A Wonderful Life.

newyear2024 · 10/03/2024 23:05

Most films from 80s/90s. Especially thrillers. I find films from that time much more slow paced and easier to watch than alot of today's films that seem to go from scene to scene and have way too much action and intensity. Think single white female, sleeping with the enemy, the hand that rocks the cradle etc

Friendofdennis · 10/03/2024 23:09

Any Bette Davis films
