Mother's Day Flowers - Would you be happy?

I ordered these for my mum from a high street chain discount shop.

What would you pay?

I've emailed but they will only offer £10 credit which is no use.

Last photo is from their website. I upgraded to large.

Looks ok to me. They might perk up in water.

aband · 10/03/2024 12:59

You can see the shop name on the last photo but I wanted answers before that was given away 😬😬

How many hyacinths did you get?

aband · 10/03/2024 13:00

Sorry I just mean the size of the bouquet not the quality.

Yea £30 plus £3 delivery.

I don't think this looks like a large though.

Glad I asked if I'm being silly.

3 or 4 I think

They look bigger in the photos 😂😂😂

Lovingitallnow · 10/03/2024 13:02

were they delivered dry? I had this once and was really annoyed but they really blossomed and perked up (sorry for the pun) in water

VanCleefArpels · 10/03/2024 13:02

Their picture shows 7 tulips which you have. Looks like you don’t have as many hyacinths though. Some gypsophilia (sp?) and a great deal of artistic licence in their photo. If they’ve offered £10 I’d bite their hand off

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 10/03/2024 13:03

So they are offering you the difference between standard and large so I would say potentially they feel it isn't a large bouquet. Why isn't the £10 credit any use? Their website is deliberately ambiguous as says sizes may vary from shown

You have more tulips than the photo on the website shows (which says pictures shows medium ) hard to tell with the hyacinths as they haven't come out yet

aband · 10/03/2024 13:04

There was a wet wound dressing type thing with a layer of thin sponge in the middle. I don't know how else to describe it.

As I don't really order flowers so I won't use it.

I didn't notice you can't see the hyacinths in the photo sorry. This is the photo I sent them too.

mondaytosunday · 10/03/2024 13:08

Looks like you got one extra tulip than the pic, but there should be five hyacinths and more greenery. Was the pic the size you ordered? I think it's pretty pathetic - you could get the tulips for £5 at Tesco and £3 for twice as much baby's breath. And I don't see any eucalyptus and where are the hyacinths?!
So risky ordering online though. I once ordered a £65 bunch of flowers for my sister for her 50th. I wanted a real showstopper and it was supposed to be a discounted £85 bouquet. She took a pic of what was delivered and it was awful - a small posy. I was so embarrassed. No matter how much arguing with the shop - they wanted her to send them the bouquet back! I think I got a £10 voucher (like I'd use them again).

Patchworksack · 10/03/2024 13:08

Are they advertised as letterbox flowers? I ordered a £25 bouquet from a local florist last week and it was more blooms than that, beautifully hand tied and wrapped. If it’s literally just the flowers in a box it seems poor value but they have offered a discount.

aband · 10/03/2024 13:09

I know you shouldn't really order online.

I'm autistic and hate going shopping.

I assume the photo is of a large as that's the biggest you can order.

OP posts:
aband · 10/03/2024 13:13

Def not letter box no.

They came in a white box. Different to the one pictured but similar size.

I wanted to buy a separate gift box to make them look better but the website said Our flowers are wrapped as a bouquet.

IMO online flowers always look shit compared to the pics. Is your mum happy?

2dogsandabudgie · 10/03/2024 13:16

It's always difficult ordering flowers on line because they very rarely look like the photo, also it depends on what fresh flowers they have had delivered to make the bouquets with. I don't think that looks like a £30 bouquet.

ODFOx · 10/03/2024 13:17

The photo shows 7 tulips and they have sent 11 but I find it hard to believe that this warrants an additional £10.
Live and learn. Next time try Amazon: I've never been disappointed and the value is excellent.

They look bigger in the photos 😂😂😂

They will be smaller while they are still in bud.

It is better to have them this way; they’ll look more like the photo in a couple of days but last longer.

Think you’re probably quite lucky to be offered the £10 tbh.

Deadringer · 10/03/2024 13:23

If I got those from one of my dc I would be delighted, but if I ordered them based on that photo I would be really disappointed.

Iamnotawinp · 10/03/2024 13:25

I have complained about postal bouquets before and I have had a replacement sent.

Sometimes you can see on the website how many of each sprig the bouquet should consist of.

It’s very rare that the bouquet you receive lives up to the picture on the website. I think that some of the pictures are photoshopped

I’ll show you my bouquet received on Friday (so there should have been plenty of flowers available). This is after I tried to arrange them in the vase. There were 12 stems in all and the two roses were already shrivelled and drooping. Another flower stem was broken and many leaves were crushed and torn.

This is a world away from their picture on the website. In fact it took me absolute ages to work out which was my bunch as it looked so different. It was priced in the £30 range, plus delivery.

I think it’s important to tell the Company, because often they are relying and paying local florists often for this service.

Id at least ask for a £10 refund, not a voucher.

Iamnotawinp · 10/03/2024 13:42

Hi I’ve just found the bouquet my Dd ordered, so you can compare it to what I got.

Note : the website doesn’t say how many stems the standard bouquet consists of and that they can substitute if they wish. In total I had two small drooping roses that the petals are now falling off (after 2days).

I’ll try and remove the company’s name. I sent a complaint Saturday morning (they arrived Friday late evening). I hope to hear something soon.

And I was wrong about the price. £39.99 plus delivery £5.95 I think.

I highly recommend Freddie's Flowers - for £25 you get a stunning bouquet that lasts at least 2 weeks
