Pity me this Mother's Day....

CurlewKate · 10/03/2024 07:08

I love French Toast. Really love it. I always have it on my birthday, Mother's Day and whenever my family want to give me a treat. Over 20 years this has been going on. This is the first Mother's Day it's been just DP and me- and he has recently been diagnosed with a severe egg allergy. AIBU to think this is incredibly inconsiderate of him?

No, I'm not going to make it for myself- what would be the point of that?? And yes, DS has said he'll make me some next weekend, but I want it now.

You're not his mum though.

MississippiAF · 10/03/2024 07:11

Just make it if you really want it. You don’t need pity. I feel a bit sorry for the person whose just been diagnosed with a severe allergy, if anything

Summerdew · 10/03/2024 07:15

@CurlewKate You forgot to put lighthearted so here come the comments that support your DP not you because heaven forbid we naturally lift other women up and support them, even when it’s an obviously jokey thread.
I get you, what an inconsiderate thing for him to do, how dare he! Can you go out for some?

Summerdew · 10/03/2024 07:20

And to add my children aren’t my DP’s, he doesn’t have any of his own, but he still helped them organise (I.e ordered and paid for) beautiful flowers for me, and brought me coffee and the papers in bed because he recognises that today is about all mothers not just his own. What a woman his mother is to bring him up like this.

You are not allowed to make jokes on MN. It's forbidden. Watch out.🙄

Floopani · 10/03/2024 07:23

Ah bless you! Tell DP you're both off out for breakfast and get your french toast!

PepperJacksBestHo · 10/03/2024 07:27

That's eggstremely inconsiderate of him... no yolks

EspressoMacchiato · 10/03/2024 07:29

YANBU … selfish git 😁

😂

I see some on this thread have had a sense of humour failure this Sunday morning.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 10/03/2024 07:33

Goodbye pancake day too, sorry OP. It's a deal breaker for me.

LTB!

SheepAndSword · 10/03/2024 07:38

@Summerdew that sounds lovely 💕

CurlewKate · 10/03/2024 07:47

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers🤣 To make matters worse, he's already been on the phone to his own mother, who lives in a care home and is always ready to start her day at 5.30. And he sent her flowers and chocolates all by himself.....

Not in everything but he can be relied upon to do the right thing on Mother’s Day (he wouldn’t selfishly develop an egg allergy 😂 - pancake day! OP I’d have to LTB as PP said).

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 10/03/2024 07:54

Some people are just so thoughtless 😂

Have you considered LTB?

StopTheBusINeedAWeeWeeAWeeWeeBagOChips · 10/03/2024 08:02

I would be seriously reconsidering my relationship op.

No French toast, but what about pancake day as well, no egg rolling at easter either, the deal breaker for me would be not having dippy eggs and soldiers made for me.

I rarely say LTB on here, but he's clearly developed this allergy as some sort of egg related controlling behaviour.

Thinking of you at this difficult time op 💐

Totally agree with this. I thought about starting a light hearted thread about when you know you are being unreasonable about something but still can't help it. Mine was my husband said would help me blitz the house yesterday then we would go out for lunch but he ended up being ill. Which tbh is quite rare for him but still felt a bit mardy lol. I then thought no as I will get some people telling me I am mean.

CatLevelCare · 10/03/2024 08:27

I don't see why he couldn't wear a hazmat suit and cook it for you anyway.
Yanbu

treacledan71 · 10/03/2024 08:28

Forgot to say hope you have a good day OP with or without eggs.

Lifebeganat50 · 10/03/2024 08:29

Rude, selfish and inconsiderate.

Nothing short of LTB would be reasonable in your position

SemperOmnibusFacultas · 10/03/2024 08:36

I must say it is somewhat 'convenient 'to develop a egg allergy just as your first mothers day as a couple approaches.

@treacledan71 that would give me the rage, how selfish to get ill when such a day was planned. I'd be buying him a diary so he can organise himself better.

LTB 😁

Kickstartplease · 10/03/2024 09:35

I know, I was just debating buying myself a present (there is a nice tote handbag thread) one child away (Student) & other SEND (with no awareness of this type of thing)
And my own mother is banished to her guest bedroom as has COVID

But developing an allergy just to thwart you 😱
