What chores have you done today?

I’ve put the dishwasher on and made my bed. Put some clothes in the washing machine ready to wash later. That’s it! I’m really bored so if I was in the mood I could get a few more things done but I have no inclination at the moment. What have you done so far today?

Nothing, had all good intentions but unfortunately sitting on the sofa with a glass of wine won!!

Waittobeconnected · 09/03/2024 16:13

Wow some posters have done a lot!

I can add to my list:
Went to Asda
Emptied the dishwasher
Made Welsh cakes!

I got three loads of washing line dried yesterday so I’ve done the ironing and put everything away.
Cooked the lunch, tidied the kitchen, made the bed, lit the wood burner and I’ve started crocheting a blanket.
Nothing else planned, DH took the dog for a long walk, he’s waiting for the rugby to start.

WhatHaveIFound · 09/03/2024 16:18

Hand washed two jumpers and laid them to dry
Wiped down the table
Ironing

DH went off to do the food shopping this morning and he and DS are now busy making an early Mother's Day dinner for me & his mum.

Tarquina · 09/03/2024 16:20

I did a bit of washing up and cooked a very simple fry up that took me three minutes full stop other than that no house work whatsoever and I don't intend to do any.

Ginmonkeyagain · 09/03/2024 16:25

Did a wash and hung it out
Cleaned the kitchen and bathroom
Hoovered
Polished all the surfaces
Sorted a patch of mildew in the back bedroom
Changed the sheets
Took out the rubbish
Put away some shoes that had been delivered last week and not unwrapped
Watered the house plants
Did a big shop
Bought a new oven bulb

Also did 30 mins of Duolingo and 30 mins of yoga but don't see them as chores.

Heading home now to make fish pie for later and a chilli for later in the week.

Ginmonkeyagain · 09/03/2024 16:27

Will then kick back with a hot bath and finish my book as Mr Monkey is working late.

25thCenturyQuaker · 09/03/2024 16:31

Emptied the dishwasher, fed the cats, vacuumed the lounge, took the recycling out, nipped down to the local Co-Op for a few things, filled the car up with diesel and blew up the tyres.

Am now relaxing with a cup of tea and some Mr Kipling mini apple pies.

LaPalmaLlama · 09/03/2024 16:35

Chucked stuff in tumble drier.
sorted a load of clean laundry
Did the “big shop” in person for once
Prepped dinner
Driven DS to training
Did Parkrun 🤣. Not really a chore but felt like it this morning.

DinnaeFashYersel · 09/03/2024 16:40

I've left them to DH as I took DD to football this morning.

He has cleaned thd kitchen, sorted out some boxes and ironed the school clothes.

Butteredtoast55 · 09/03/2024 16:46

I was in work for a couple of hours this morning then have done four loads of washing (mostly line dried) which I'm going to iron soon. Loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen, organised DS1 & 2 to take some things to the tip, cleaned the bathroom, dusted two rooms and hoovered. Cleared out the fireplace and might make a fire once the ironing is done.
DSs are going to get a Chinese later and it's been lovely and sunny so it's been a good day.

ComfyBoobs · 09/03/2024 13:27

I wonder if there’s an equivalent forum anywhere with blokes listing out their Saturday chores….

Yeah I was thinking that 🤔🤣

mamaduckbone · 09/03/2024 16:57

Made the bed, emptied the dishwasher, hoovered and dusted, put a load of laundry on, put clean laundry away, general tidy. Trying to make sure there's nothing to do tomorrow as it's Mother's Day.

Legaleeagles · 09/03/2024 17:03

Light gardening and tidied up kitchen, hoovered, floor wipes. And some washing.

AuntieMarys · 09/03/2024 17:03

2 washloads.
Poured gin.

43ontherocksporfavor · 09/03/2024 17:03

@ComfyBoobs Well, when I listed the chores I’d done, I meant as a household. So DH came food shopping with me and the big dog walk and he’s just hoovered the whole house and he’s now mowing the lawn.

stayathomer · 09/03/2024 17:07

Too much!! Was on a roll and now my feet hurt and I’m wrecked!! Tons of washing, hoovered and washed the floors of four rooms, cleaned the bathroom, changed two lots of sheets … to be fair is just because I won’t get to do housework for two days- visiting and also will be working and two of the kids’ asthma is rearing its ugly head so trying to get rid of all the dust!!

trampoline123 · 09/03/2024 17:23

Today I made the bed, emptied the kitchen bin, washed up twice and about to be a third, tidied kids bedroom, 3 loads of washing and the food shop.

Whattheduck · 09/03/2024 17:34

Food shop
Changed the beds
2 lots of washing
Made Dd a curry
Emptied bins
Unloaded dishwasher

Prepped the curry for the slow cooker. Done a load of laundry. Walked dog for 1.5hours. Done the ironing.

You still ironing? Get a dryer, take clothes out and roll immediately so no need to iron saving you 2/3 hours per week xxxx I only do pleated school skirts now and nothing else xx

It never looks crease free though..it just looks like it's been taken out of the tumbler and nobody couldn't be bothered to iron it

Nannyfannybanny · 09/03/2024 22:27

Dryers cost a lot of money to run. I had 4 DKS and ironing never took 3 hours.

PuttingDownRoots · 09/03/2024 22:28

Since I posted earlier

Swept the kitchen
Another load of laundry
Tidied living room and dining room
Hoovered all of downstairs
Distributed clean washing
Cooked dinner
Went to shop for wine and ice cream
Cleared up after dinner
