Where should I piece my ear(s). Photos included

Having a bit of a midlife crisis and fancy getting my ears pierced again.

What would look good? I'm thinking maybe a second lobe piercing or maybe another helix but lower down on the other ear. I like the idea of the tragic but I wear in ear headphones / loop earplugs so think that would be uncomfortable.

I would get either second lobes or a mid helix below the one you’ve already got . That’s what I got last year. (But I’m a wimp and too scared to get Teague pierced!)

Mykittensmittens · 08/03/2024 19:56

Two more in the lobe - you have room!

OfDragonsDeep · 08/03/2024 19:57

2nd lobes would look lovely I think.

Did your helix take long to heal? I would like mine done, but keep reading that they take forever to heal and you can’t sleep on it.

I can't really remember how long it took to heal. I had it done about 20 years ago and don't think I thought much of it. But I don't think these things bother you as much as a teenager ...

I’ve started getting my lobes stacked. Now have 3 each side and will add more soon.

I can’t remember my first helix as was years ago but my second helix fairly recently it was about 3 weeks before I could lay on that side and 4 weeks ish before I could properly sleep on it. Recovery has been great. Hasn’t put me off getting another!

SpinningTopps · 08/03/2024 20:02

I hope people realise I mean tragus instead of tragic. But maybe it would be tragic ...

Mine autocorrected too but no idea to what 😆

BrummyMommy · 08/03/2024 20:05

My tragus hurt less than the helix piercings I have, and healed faster.

I recon a daith piercing would look lovely

CatamaranViper · 08/03/2024 20:07

I have my tragus done and it doesn't interfere with earbuds or ear plugs (I wear both).

What about an industrial piercing?

Ah that sounds great, think I could tolerate that. I want to get 3rd lobes done too soon.

How about a daith @SpinningTopps? That wouldlook great too.

Lessstressedhemum · 08/03/2024 20:19

Scaffold or daith.

SpinningTopps · 08/03/2024 20:23

I'm not sure about a daith piercing, I quite want it to be a stud and I don't think that is an option there.

I quite like these kind of studs and have them in mind. I think the stem of the earring might be too thick for lobes though. I do quite like the idea of the helix below my other one. I could do that along with my second lobes.

Scaffold or daith.

I've just googled scaffold and think that's too much for me, don't think I could pull it off.
It's pretty out there for me to even be considering second lobe 🤣

Daith piercing. It’s often done with a double balled bar.

taybert · 08/03/2024 20:26

I wear labrets in my lobes. If you get them done with a needle they’re usually the right gauge but to be honest I wear labrets in my original lobe piercings done with a gun 30 years ago too.

JarvisRocker · 08/03/2024 20:26

Or another on the lobes is always a classic.

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 08/03/2024 20:30

I want to get my rook done. Ought to get on with it.

bit worried if it looks swollen/yuk/sore as i can't hide it - i've got a pixie with an undercut - do they tend to look sore to start with?

NotmyfirstRodeomyfriend · 08/03/2024 20:33

I'd do this and get something thinner or more like a stud in your top piercing Smile

It hadn't occurred to me to change my helix earring. I have no idea how to get it out!
But that's a good option for a different look.

I’m wear ear buds with my tragus in, once healed it doesn’t interfere with it! Can also wear them with my conch fine, if you’d be interested in getting one of those.

I’d def do second lobes. How about a rook? @AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds mine was swollen for maybe 3 days max, but not hugely. It’s sore for a while afterwards, but I knew that when getting it.

The highest of the three would be a good, balanced placement. It's going to be more likely to be a cartilage piercing than a lobe, as that's where the tissue changes, so make sure if you did that, you go to a good piercer who will check where the change is (piercing through both makes rejection more likely - if they don't accidentally go skew-whiff as they pierce due to hitting the cartilage halfway through, according to mine).

You do have a very small Tragus, which can make it more vulnerable to swelling/getting irritated than a larger one. But maybe that would be for the next set of piercings. Or top helix?

Ladybird69 · 08/03/2024 21:32

Hi Op I had 7 new piercings done 2 weeks ago! Couldn’t decide which ones to get so got them all. I’m really pleased with them. Originally I had one in each lobe and a nose stud. So I got 2 more in my right lobe and a tragus, a Madonna and a triple helix in my left ear. The piercer will advise if you have the room for the piercings. Next one will be a double forward helix in my right ear. I’m an older lady and while I was in the salon I got talking to a lady in her 70s and she said she always wanted a belly button piercing. When she’s watched me get my 7 she booked hers! One I’d never get is a tongue!

OneMoreTime23 · 08/03/2024 21:55

Wow. My piercer won’t do more than 4
per session.

CatamaranViper · 08/03/2024 22:04

I've got industrial/scaffolding and I'm really not edgy. I usually have a silver one in but I accidentally lost the ball from one side so had to settle with my backup.

Had it about 12 years, it's very easy to look after and there are some cool bars you can get (split bars etc). Healed dead easily and didn't really hurt either.

Id actually say it was less painful than my cartilage piercings on the other ear but I had them done with a gun in a shop in the market place which I do not recommend. They point in different directions Blush
