Where should I piece my ear(s). Photos included

Having a bit of a midlife crisis and fancy getting my ears pierced again.

What would look good? I'm thinking maybe a second lobe piercing or maybe another helix but lower down on the other ear. I like the idea of the tragic but I wear in ear headphones / loop earplugs so think that would be uncomfortable.

I’d go for snug if I was you! Mine is too small to get done but it’s my absolute favourite

I've got industrial/scaffolding and I'm really not edgy. I usually have a silver one in but I accidentally lost the ball from one side so had to settle with my backup.

Had it about 12 years, it's very easy to look after and there are some cool bars you can get (split bars etc). Healed dead easily and didn't really hurt either.

Id actually say it was less painful than my cartilage piercings on the other ear but I had them done with a gun in a shop in the market place which I do not recommend. They point in different directions Blush

Ps ignore the strange first lobe piercing. I used to have an expander in so this is the result many years later.

Or your rook on the opposite ear to your helix!

I got a forward helix, it hurt like hell when I smiled or spoke for the first fortnight. 4 months on it is only sore if I accidentally sleep on it. I love the way it looks though!

It hadn't occurred to me to change my helix earring. I have no idea how to get it out!
But that's a good option for a different look.

Yeah defo, like a thin gold hoop or a pretty stud, I change mine pretty much every day to suit my outfit.

I'm laughing OP because a few hours ago I think literally as you were posting this I was looking at my ears and contemplating getting a mid life crisis piercing. I have double lobes done but want a helix on my right ear and possibly another lobe on left. I was wondering if I should post on MN for advice!!

Is there such a thing as a having a piercing consultation?

LightandBreezy · 08/03/2024 22:35

Looking at your ears currently, I think a second lobe would be nicest, so the piercings don't look so spread out. And if you wanted to add to that later tragus heals really quickly in my experience because it's quite tucked away so hair doesn't get caught etc etc. It was a painless piercing too, and I could wear earbuds again after a few weeks. I also think it looks really pretty having something there. I'm finding the daith much more of an issue with earbuds tbh, but that might not be the case if you did as @JarvisRocker suggested and had a double ball instead of a hoop. It's the curve/bulk of the hoop that's not allowing the buds to sit in properly quite annoying.

OneFrenchEgg · 08/03/2024 23:52

My forward helix is my favourite one . I have tragus, helix, third lobes, forward helix, conch. Conch is my least favourite.
Had a daith and it slowly edged out so had to remove it

SpinningTopps · 09/03/2024 09:05

Ok, thanks everyone. I think I'll definitely go for second lobes and maybe decide on a single other. Tempted by the tragus after people saying it's fine with in ear headphones.
I sleep on my front so worry about the healing but I've seen you can get special pillows, perhaps I'll make my own!

The piercer who did my Daith said they always use a hoop as your initial jewellery . Mine is well healed now so I'm thinking about a double balled curved bar .

On the other ear I have a forward helix and a new tragus
Had lobes and a 2nd lobe in my teens

I don't wear ear-pods , just the big headphones

@SpinningTopps a 2nd /3rd lobe would be really prett , then you could get some really nice studs or hoops .
I have a tiny huggie hoop in my 2nd . love it
