Who loves bread?

Trying for the umpteenth time to eat sensibly and lose some weight. Think bread is my downfall - I just love all kinds....rolls, bagels, sliced pan, whole grain etc. Just curious to know how much or how little people eat each day? I try and limit myself to two small slices...

I love bread! I eat as much as I feel like, which today has been four slices.

Teasie123 · 07/03/2024 23:38

Omg!! I love love love bread!!! Any type, with real butter.🤭🤭🤭🤗🤗🤗

WhateverMate · 07/03/2024 23:38

I have a crusty roll every day at lunch for work and on my days off, I'll normally have a fry up with two slices of white bread.

Love it.

Moier · 07/03/2024 23:58

That's my downfall.. bread.. l love it.. especially a good crusty roll..
A plain Teacake butty or a fruit teacake toasted.
Bagels/ baguettes/ egg on toast.. l could eat it every meal.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 08/03/2024 01:52

Love it. Tiger, crusty, salt & pepper, brown, white, seeded. Feel I eat too much though!

DilemmaDelilah · 08/03/2024 06:36

I love bread! I'm trying to limit it at the moment so I have only been having 3 thin slices a day. The only way I can do that is by only buying my least favourite kind. I could quite happily get through a whole loaf of crusty white in a day.

Garlicking · 08/03/2024 06:41

Meee! Current favourite midnight snack is air-fried bread. Olive oil on both sides with some salt, zapped on high until the top's crisp & golden, turn and repeat. Put another slice in while eating the first 😜 It's like a giant crouton.

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 08/03/2024 06:42

I eat loads of bread.

Two slices for breakfast
Normally wraps for lunch
Hot cross buns for a snack
Toast for a snack before bed

Mmm, bread...

FanofLeaves · 08/03/2024 06:45

Not having a bread product sandwich makes for either a more expensive lunch, or a sparser one, I can’t afford to go bread less currently plus I work on my feet all day, salad for lunch would make me want to cry.

My TREAT bread is that crusty loaf they do in M&S, stuffed with olives and has a little gauzy bandage round the middle.

Hoglet70 · 08/03/2024 08:35

Bread is life! Any diet I am on has to encompass bread or it's not happening.

Monkeybutt1 · 08/03/2024 08:38

I love bread and all bread products, but I have been losing weight so I limit my intake. Mon - Thu no bread or very rarely I may have a slice of wholemeal toast but not often. Friday, Sat, I have bread but still try to not have loads and loads.
I haven't had bread since last Sat but today I am having a panini for lunch and will be having a couple of slice of Garlic bread with tea.
Tomorrow we are having home made burgers so will have a bread bun with that. On Sunday I think we are going to a local pizza restaurant for dinner and its Mothers Day so I will eat what I want but usually I would maybe have a slice of toast or a sandwich.
Mon - Thu instead of bread I have homemade chicken noodle soup or a slice of Frittata and salad.

I love bread, especially with a reasonable layer of butter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t like me, so I don’t eat it.

Teddleshon · 08/03/2024 09:16

Completely love bread and would happily eat my own weight in it. Limit myself to 2 slices a day though. When I eat out it’s often the highlight for me!

maimeo · 08/03/2024 18:09

Reading these have made me feel very sorry for myself😂. When I'm trying to lose weight I try to limit myself to two slices of low cal bread a day, like today.....but I have a bread shaped hole in my stomach which needs filling! So hard to go low carb!!

I adore all bready products especially beautiful fresh bread with real, salted butter. All kinds of rolls, buns, baps, butteries, farls, wheaten, soda, farmhouse, baguettes etc etc.

I'm drooling just thinking about it 🤤

Ps I need to cut it out as my middle rivals the Michelin man

muddyford · 08/03/2024 18:14

Another bread lover here. Also potatoes in any form!

cordeliachaseatemyhandbag · 08/03/2024 18:14

Bread lover here too.

Even plain whole meal I love it.

teatimefortiger · 08/03/2024 18:14

I love bread. Especially a nice crisp baguette dipped into a baked Camembert. Or some nice seeded bread, toasted and slathered in butter. Or a crusty roll filled with tuna, mayo, cucumber and some salad leaves. To be fair, I just love carbs though.

TwilightSkies · 08/03/2024 18:18

I love it but it makes me bloated and I crave carbs all day. So I don’t eat very much.
I have fresh crusty baguette a few times a week.

BouleDeSuif · 08/03/2024 18:22

I love bread. I make my own and I have some with most meals. There is nothing in the world as wonderful as fresh bread and butter.
I mostly make wholemeal, but sometimes do a white buttermilk one, or a load of bagels, or a fruit loaf.
I will never give up bread.

Your body and brain need carbs!
If you want to limit it a bit at least have good bread when you do eat it.
Not thin low cal stuff.
I'd be miserable as sin on that sorry 😞

Chunkycookie · 08/03/2024 18:33

I used to bloody love it. Soft, white bread.

Then I was unexpectedly diagnosed with coeliac disease 4 years ago.

GF bread is the work of the devil.

I miss bread so much.

Cuppachuchu · 08/03/2024 18:45

Fresh warm French baguette and butter. 😋

saraclara · 08/03/2024 19:03

I love bread and when I'm counting calories I have to factor it in and pass on other things.

Tesco wholemeal pitta breads are my saviour when I'm dieting. One of those smeared with marmite, honey or good lemon curd, then cut into fingers, satisfies my carb cravings (and potentially sweetness craving). It's a fixed amount of calories, and eaten reasonably slowly, is pretty filling. It's 'heavy' and takes more chewing than a slice of bread, and that really helps

That's a really good one, and I bet it's even better if you warm it in the toaster first. I'm going to try that, thanks.
