Give me a racing heart?

Every time. Doesn’t matter what brand. Don’t get it with anything else. Its perplexing.

Are you misspelling “quickie”?

WasItOrNot · 08/03/2024 20:16

Maybe it's the cocaine they sometimes slip in 😁

On a serious note, could be some sort of fat/saturate overload, or an intolerance. Or a combo of lactose, egg and gluten all at once.

Best try a custard tart and a slab of cheese and see if it has the same effect

keepcrackingon · 10/03/2024 07:14

This happens to me too. It’s the salt content. For me it’s worst with Higgidy Pie quiches. Of course you aren’t supposed to eat the whole quiche, which I did until this issue forced me to give them up!

Is quiche healthy?
Quiche is bad news when it comes to a healthy diet. It’s usually made with cheese and cream in the filling as well as butter in the pastry case, so it’s often high in saturated fat and calories. Ingredients like bacon will add salt and more saturated fat.

www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/nutrition/how-healthy-are-these-popular-foods#quiche

All of this is good info. But i’ll add the Quiche depends on ingredients and looking at the ingredients of a M&S quiche - there’s a lot of additives
Whole Milk, Maple Cured Smoked Bacon (16%) (Pork (84%), Water, Potato Starch Sugar, Salt, Maple Syrup, Stabiliser: E451, Antioxidant: E301, Preservative: Sodium Nitrite), Pasteurised Free Range Egg (15%), Wheatflour contains Gluten (with Wheatflour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Mature Cheddar Cheese (Milk) (9%), Emmental Cheese (Milk) (8%), Single Cream (Milk) (7%), Palm Oil, Wholemeal Wheatflour (contains Gluten), Rapeseed Oil, Maize Flour, Cornflour, Modified Maize Starch, Emulsifier: E471, Dextrose, Salt, Dried Mustard

OP it could be a combination of inflammatory additives plus a lot of sodium and possibly food sensitivity !

Smileytrees · 10/03/2024 13:38

This happens to me with wheat products. Turns out I'm gluten intolerant

Wow! But that makes about 150% of ingredients, what have I misunderstood??

Sorry, I'm probably being thick. Was digressing and derailing the thread.....

But it says:

Cured Smoked Bacon (16%) (Pork (84%), Water, Potato Starch Sugar, Salt, Maple Syrup, Stabiliser: E451, Antioxidant: E301, Preservative: Sodium Nitrite), Pasteurised Free Range Egg (15%), Wheatflour contains Gluten (with Wheatflour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Mature Cheddar Cheese (Milk) (9%), Emmental Cheese (Milk) (8%), Single Cream (Milk) (7%), Palm Oil,

All those percentages add up to more than 100. It's probably to do with the 'bacon (16%), (pork 84% ...... ' with no bracket after until the end of sodium nitrite - but still very unclear on the content.

But not really relevant to the thread, apologies......

yes! Absolutely, they were my lockdown (always on offer) go-to!

I love salt though and don’t notice it elsewhere

WhenTheDragonsCame · 11/03/2024 03:43

@Teenagehorrorbag I think it means 16% of the quiche is the cured smoke bacon and 84% of cured smoke bacon is pork. Not the 84% of the quiche is pork.

I don’t understand your question?

Oh I see what you mean. It's copied pasted - they punctuation is terrible. I believe it means (16% is cured bacon of which 84% is pork). I believe there are some ingredients which must indicate % because of the name or the photograph etc. There's more info here if useful:
