What gives you joy?

A fun one to brighten the mood on yet another rainy day.....

Day in day out for me it's my car. I like looking at it thinking about it, obviously driving it. It gives me irrational joy. Even when I'm at work and can't see it, if I see one similar I smile. I think the fixation has to do with my adhd

What makes your day better that others don't feel the same about?

When I pick my baby up and he sighs contentedly and nuzzles into me.
Watching a movie or TV show in bed with my DH.
Taking my golden retriever for a walk in the sunshine.
Reading a good book, makes even the most boring day exciting.

Autienotnautie · 07/03/2024 04:46

Completely a crossword
Being caught up in a book
Spending time with my children
Eating crisps and drinking sweet tea
The sea
Dancing

Garlicking · 07/03/2024 04:53

Sitting outside a café with a coffee & cake, reading the paper and watching the world go by. I just love it and, because I've done it so often in so many places, it makes feel a little bit as if I'm on holiday.

I'm another sea lover; being on a boat brings me immense joy, as does being in the sea (if it's warm!) but I'm far from the coast now.

Being in a nice restaurant with people I like.

Powderblue1 · 07/03/2024 06:39

Seeing my children's lovely little faces when they tell me they love me. Family days out. Walks by the sea. Reading. Feeling productive

HeraSyndulla · 07/03/2024 06:43

Finishing my shift on time.

flea101 · 07/03/2024 06:43

My home. We rented for years and finally managed to buy last year. I was always so worried when we rented that we would be asked to leave, which we were last year as our landlord wanted to sell. But it gave us the kick up the bum we needed to buy. Our house is tiny but it is ours! I love waking up in our bed, watching the sun come up through the window.

Lovely thread and one to look at when things are feeling difficult.

Mine are;

-first coffee of the day

  • G & T on a Friday evening
  • my pets
  • my heated throw in the daytime with a snooze
  • first day of holidays when you arrive and all of the prep was worth it
  • babies aged about 10 months when they are just sheer delight and wonderment
  • older people holding your hand and telling you stories
  • walks in the woods at the perfect temperature- not too hot and not freezing cold
  • walking in to a clean & tidy space
HelenHywater · 07/03/2024 07:01

For me it's
Sunshine
A clean house and clean sheets
My dogs (when they're not being twats)
My teens (when they're not being twats) - especially if we're all sitting round the table laughing
Laughing with my friends
Walking in the park near to me
Great sex
Landing in a foreign airport at the start of a holiday
Walking with my headphones in and listening to music
Eating in my garden with the family on a summer day
Summer in fact I love it - walking around in a sun dress, looking at the sky, feeling the warm sun on my face and body.

Summer evenings

My commute to work when the roads aren't icy and I can use the back road through villages and open countryside. It's always beautiful whatever the weather. Today it's grey, drizzly and misty but I still can't wait to see the view from the top of the 'hill' (relative term in Norfolk) to see the big skies and mist clinging in the hollows.

SallyWD · 07/03/2024 07:05

-my children
-being in nature
-food!
-climbing in to bed at the end of a busy day

bakedpotatoforlunch · 07/03/2024 07:06

I've already commented but I have been thinking on and realising there are so many things in an often over-busy, distracting, concerning world also that give me joy. Realising too that it's slways the simplest and most natural things. So to add:

Walking in the Lake District
Our wonderful little cat
That first cup of tea in the morning

moonjump · 07/03/2024 07:08

Being on a beach
Fussing a friendly dog
A really good piece of cake
Coastal cliff top walks.

A really top day out would be a cliff top walk with a dog, ending on a beach where I could watch said dog play in the waves with other dogs, then have some fabulous coffee and cake outside a beach cafe 😊

sandgrown · 07/03/2024 07:30

Having my children and grandchildren all together .
walking with the sun on my face
visiting quirky little places and having a nice coffee and cake . Strangely I love little industrial towns that remind me of where I grew up
getting a great holiday bargain
laughing with my friends
watching a tiny baby wake up and stretch then the smile when they see you
the fact I can now slmost see the end of paying off the debts of a previous relationship after nearly 4 years .

Shannith · 07/03/2024 16:26

Going fast on horses. Generally being around horses. When a foster dog relaxes and realises it's in a good place. Teaching recall. Recall training working. Getting into a freshly made bed. View of the downs from my house. Polishing tarnished silver. Charity shop finds. Sugar.

Moier · 07/03/2024 16:45

The smell of the laundry aisle in a supermarket.

Realising I’ve had 5 minutes of not tuning into my 24/7 tinnitus.

Playing netball for an hour a week with my fab teammates

My cats kneading me before curling up on me for a cuddle

Watching my sons play rugby

My husband scrinching my head at bedtime to help me fall asleep

Pedro Pascal

The film Clue

A walk and feeding the ducks with my youngest

Conversations with my lovely mum

Hazelnut latte from Starbucks

GoodnightAdeline · 08/03/2024 19:15

When my kids fall asleep on time and neither of them are ill. Walking down the stairs after the last one has dropped off gives me a buzz. I know I then get about an hour to sit on the sofa with my kindle, unless the baby wakes up again.

halfthesun · 08/03/2024 19:17

Watching husband dance around the kitchen to my play list while cooking me dinner Daffodil

fishfishandmorefish · 08/03/2024 19:21
