My parcel has been "manifested for delivery".

Can anyone tell me what this means please? Is this EVRI's way of trying to assure me that my delivery, which is already 4 days late is going to reach me eventually, or is this technical jargon? How long does the manifestation process usually take?

I think it means that someone at Evri is sitting in the lotus position, concentrating very hard on imagining your parcel is being delivered, thereby bringing said delivery into existence. Or something.

mylittleyumyum · 06/03/2024 09:53

It means they are willing the delivery of your parcel into existence.

You should join them. Picture vividly your parcel being delivered to your home.

BookwormDadUK · 06/03/2024 09:55

I was going to say it has been added to a delivery manifest - i.e. assigned to a specific driver and delivery run and will shortly be out for delivery. Then I realised it's Evri, in which case pp has probably nailed it

mindutopia · 06/03/2024 09:56

I think it means it's on the delivery manifest for the day, so that could be being collected from the sender or being collected from the depot to come to you.

But I like the above options better and I hope someone at EVRI had a good chuckle about setting this up in the system.

As it's EVRI, if it's on the manifest for delivery, you can be almost certain that this means it will not in fact be delivered today. Or that it will be randomly delivered into someone's recycling bin two towns over.

SailingStormyWaters · 06/03/2024 09:56

In other words, wishful thinking !

Cuppachuchu · 06/03/2024 10:00

It's on their "to do" list, and they'll get around to it eventually.

Aquamarine1029 · 06/03/2024 10:00

I need to manifest something for dinner.

PuttingDownRoots · 06/03/2024 10:05

Your parcel is now a manifestation. It will haunt you forever.

Nopoppinginplease · 06/03/2024 10:11

Do EVRI have form for this? This is the first time I've got anything from them. It's already 4 days late and contains items I need for a birthday party on Friday. The manifestation process started at 6.20am this morning, does anyone know from experience if this might result in a delivery before then? On a side note, I'm looking for a career change and manifestation officer sounds quite nice to me. I could work from home, and I quite like a bit of woo.

Out of a several hundred parcels my business has sent through Evri, they've lost two. One of which was international. They get a bad rep, but they are no worse then the others really.

Ihateslugs · 06/03/2024 11:36

I have not heard of a parcel being manifested for delivery even though I have had hundreds of deliveries with Evri - am disabled and cannot get to the shops easily. I guess it means it’s been allocated a courier to deliver it and is at the depot waiting collection. So I would expect it to be delivered as agreed.

I actually rate Evri very highly but I think the reliability of any delivery company depends very much on the individual driver. I generally get the same person delivering Evri parcels and he knows it can take me a while to get to the door. So he rings the bell, leaves the parcel in the porch and goes back to his van where he waits until I open the door before driving off. If I am out, parcels get left in my safe place on my back patio.

I can’t recall ever having a parcel go missing and most arrive on the day allocated in an email.

I know Evri have a poor reputation but my own experiences differ.

Isitbedtimeyet3 · 06/03/2024 11:37

They rebranded to Evri because there is Evri chance your parcel is not getting delivered

Evri are so shite. I ordered a ring from Vinted, waited 3 weeks, the website just said that they had it, I had to chase Vinted but finally got a refund as Evri said they had lost the ring (more likely been stolen) 🙄

RB68 · 06/03/2024 11:50

just means you are on a delivery list (called a manifest)

CuntRYMusicStar · 06/03/2024 12:19

Evri is so dependent on the local courier. Ours is fantastic and never misses, in fact a few times she has come when we weren't here but has either left the parcel well hidden and a note or left a note with her number so we can arrange redelivery/collection.

She is a superstar so I always go on and give her a fantastic review when I get the survey after delivery.

UnravellingTheWorld · 06/03/2024 12:27

A manifest is commonly used in the shipping and cargo world. It means they've acknowledged they need to deliver it

PuppyMonkey · 06/03/2024 12:30

I have to send out a lot of parcels for work via Royal Mail and when they’re all done and labels printed etc, I then have to do a manifest where all the items are listed and then when our mail gets picked up, the driver scans this manifest and takes all the parcels away.

if that helps!

MMBaranova · 06/03/2024 12:31

It has a Destiny.

You don't get to know what that is.

misscockerspaniel · 06/03/2024 12:55

It means that it has been scanned into the scanner used by the delivery person. So I would take it as a good sign touchwood.

SoOutingWhoCares · 06/03/2024 12:57

Awwwww I want something a Hemsworth brother manifested for me now.

So not fair.

PuttingDownRoots · 06/03/2024 13:05

O/T but I decided to look up manifest and its very different meanings... the thought meaning apparently comes from the Latin manifestus, via old French. While the correct meaning here is from the Italian manifesto.

And manifesto... now thats another meaning in English....

So does this mean the delivery person will deliver it today, or do they keep stuff for several days?

I haven't worked for Evri. Where I was, the delivery drivers needed a good excuse for it not to be delivered the same day, such as the parcel needing a signature and no one being at home. But the firm I was with was keen on targets being met as contracts relied on that happening and the drivers would get a bollocking if they didn't do their job. But as I say, it wasn't Evri.
