Weird food, Good Food, Don’t bloody judge me food

Have been some food related threads floating around, or perhaps I’m just hungry….

got me thinking, what are weird and unusual food combos or habits that make you or others go wtf!!

I have to let my toast go stone cold before I butter it otherwise it’s inedible. I always put two extra strong Yorkshire teabags in my mug and leave them in while drinking said tea so it gets stiffer as you go.

my ex-partner ate pizza with a fork and chicken wings with disposable plastic gloves (psychopath I know).

my DP eats cold black pudding straight from the packet, like one might peel and eat a banana

I'm the opposite with toast, it has to be buttered and eaten when as hot as possible otherwise it is inedible!!!

McDonald's chips dipped in a Mcflurry or one of their sundaes is elite.

Loubelle70 · 01/03/2024 18:31

Im a cold toaster... i don't like melted lurpak.

ItIsYou · 01/03/2024 18:36

Baked beans have to be boiling hot.
I dip the crusts of toast in coffee.

i don't get the fascination with Nandos, chicken wings or McDs chips

German dark rye bread (the sort that has no wheat in, very bitter and dense) broken up and mixed into cold supermarket ready-made custard.

The one that makes my husband shake his head in disgust is my love for vegetarian sausages dipped in raspberry jam.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 01/03/2024 19:02

On the toast front, cold with a thick layer of butter when I'm having Pate on toast. Piping hot so the butter melts if I'm having jam on toast.

When I want comfort food, if I'm feeling poorly, I love a bowl of plain boiled rice very liberally sprinkled with malt vinegar and salt.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 01/03/2024 19:07

Ketchup and Piccalilli sandwich - has to be thick white bread with lots of butter.

This thread has reminded me of a bloke I saw recently dipping chicken nuggets into a milkshake 🤮

I butter toast when it's cold for jam or hot for marmite.

tortietimestwo · 01/03/2024 22:56

I knew it wasn't just me that loved dipping chips in my McFlurry.

I love chicken super noodles topped with olives, soy sauce and hot sesame oil.

Oooh I actually got bought some ritz crackers dipped in chocolate last year. They were surprisingly tasty

SoEmbarrassed2024 · 01/03/2024 23:03

And (piping hot) McDonald's chips dipped in milkshake was amazing as a child, less so now that the milkshake is some weird chemical foam though 🤬

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 01/03/2024 23:19

@SoEmbarrassed2024 if you Google Ritz crackers chocolate there are some amazing recipes. One is is two Ritz with a melted rolo in the middle then dipped in chocolate....hot damn!

rickandmorts · 02/03/2024 00:06

I fry coleslaw 😂 hear me out... when I want a quick tea and I have leftover homemade coleslaw in the fridge I'll do some instant noodles, fry the coleslaw in a hot pan with a bit of oil and mix it up. The mayo melts away and it just turns into shredded cooked carrot, cabbage and red onion which is perfect for noodles!

AdaColeman · 02/03/2024 00:07

Thin toast must only be buttered when cold, but thick toast has to be buttered immediately whilst still hot.

Rare roast beef and anchovy sandwiches are my favourite sandwiches ATM.

TheFireflies · 02/03/2024 05:37

Mashed potato in a crusty roll. My husband thinks I’m disgusting but I say it’s basically the same as a chip butty.

Also wotsits dipped in brown sauce, a Masterchef winner once called me a psycho for that one. You’ve got to try it to know.

Tortilla chips with ice cream as a dip. Works best if you stir up the ice cream to make it creamy. Lovely.
