Help - my iPhone has died for no reason, won’t turn on

No idea what’s wrong with it, I left it plugged in last night charging and it’s just completely black screen this morning. I’ve tried another plug incase the plug socket wasn’t working. Obviously pressing the power button isn’t waking it up.

i don’t know how I can actually work today as I can’t log onto the work computer system without getting a text message. I’ve got an important meeting at 9am 🙈

Wonder if it could be the screen gone? Happened to me and worked out it was the screen as when I pressed the fingerprint sensor it buzzed so I knew phone was on but screen dead. If it's that or your phone had died I don't think you'll be sorted for 9! 😳

Try quickly pressing and releasing volume up then volume down then press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

Tried that just now, thank you. Nothing.

Have you got another charger cable you can try? When mine did this it was actually flat - the plug part was fine but the cable had failed.

Also I think you can use WhatsApp on the internet if you have a laptop/PC?

Can you use your laptop to message someone via Linked to say what's happened?

It does sound like your phone has totally lost charge or had a glitch rather than completely broken.

You can but you usually have to answer authentication via your phone 🙈 - good to set up for future though.

Do you have a phone repair shop nearby? They should be able to quickly fix it whilst you wait.

I can’t find another cable which fits. I can go and buy one today but I’m not going to make the meeting. I’ve emailed IT asking them how I can get round the code issue.

Do you have another phone in the house into which you could put the sim for long enough to get that text?

Do you have an old phone kicking around in a drawer you can switch the SIM card into?

If it's a charging issue then the 'no battery' sign will come up when you press buttons. If that's not happening then it's not about needing to be charged

I’ve found another charging cable and it’s had a couple of mins and so far nothing. Will give it a bit longer. Thankfully I don’t seem to have closed my work laptop down yesterday and normally it automatically logs you out the system after so long but I seem to still be in it. Hopefully I’m still in it at 9am

Do you need to increase your icloud storage? When I needed to and didn't upgrade this happened to me and when I used another phone and paid the extra £1 per month, it magically suddenly turned itself on.

Try holding power and volume down buttons at the same time until hopefully Apple symbol comes up again

I can’t even work out how to get the case off so I think the chances of me being able to swap the SIM card are slim. I’m going to have to take it somewhere but I’m stressed about the meetings which I have all day.

I’ve found another phone which I’m currently charging, dh is going to swap SIM cards.

he reckons his iPhone did similar before after running the battery low (mine was very low yesterday) and he his was totally unresponsive like mine, he left it having a sulk for 24 hours and then it just switched on.

Mine keeps doing this as well. I keep meaning to get a new battery. It's a PITA!

I had the same happen to me. We couldn't get it working between us. A real pain. It was out of contract and I ended up getting another with Tescos as that was the cheapest combination of phone and contract for me.
