What hypocritical waffle.

cakeorwine · 01/03/2024 17:59

I hope someone asks him that just because you did well, does that not mean that people face barriers in life because of their identity?

Or is that not allowed anymore? Is that unpatriotic?

I would also ask him how his comments tie in with his comments on trans people? Is he trying to be divisive there?

Can't imagine the thinking behind doing this speech? Who advised him to do it? Can only think a squirrel 🐿️

Yes, what are we being distracted from - the info dump earlier or something to do with the funeral?

Piggywaspushed · 01/03/2024 18:00

BBC don't even have it as their top headline...

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2024 18:01

I decided to save my DD from the mob, well the pouring rain, so missed the whole thing. Shall catch up

Piggywaspushed · 01/03/2024 18:02

I'm both bemused and amused by the BBC not covering this in the six o'clock news.

Alexandra2001 · 01/03/2024 18:03

I think its awful he is criticising the result of a democratic election.

If people are turning to the extremes, thats down to the main parties.

IClaudine · 01/03/2024 18:04

Did you notice he basically gave the police carte blanche to do what they think necessary at the marches?

I think he has just poured petrol on flames with his divisive speech.

That is a very good point.
Democracy in action.

You might not like who someone voted for but on the current FPTP system, he got in.

Piggywaspushed · 01/03/2024 18:05

Gosh the Tory keyboard tappers from HQ are already busy elsewhere..

I could not agree more. I despise Galloway, but he was democratically elected in a free election. Sunak is giving Galloway more to puff himself up about.

L1ttledrummergirl · 01/03/2024 18:06

I just caught the last few minutes, he looked and sounded like a six former pleading to be made a prefect.
He was using words like truth and honesty, but as he doesn't have the first idea of what they mean, it was a bit bizarre.

I must have missed the announcement at the beginning, what's happening?

I wouldn’t bother, it’s not worth it.

I don't think I can stomach them tonight.

newnamethanks · 01/03/2024 18:08

Bloody hell. Stepping up the gaslighting. Anyone got 50p for the meter? Shameless. Or utterly deluded.

fabio12 · 01/03/2024 18:11

Tories are in a bit of a toughie though because even if that was about the general public being influenced by extremists, we all rememember how they got Brexit through and themselves into the driving seat. Cambridge Analytica had quite a few "extremists" in their midsts, did they not? Or maybe just the right kind of onesHmm

placemats · 01/03/2024 18:13

On a more serious note. Did Sunak threaten migrants with deportation if they protested?

Which Galloway has just done to Sky's Sam Coates when questioned about Sunaks speech.

I still have no idea what the heck RS was on about.

Vast majority of people are terrified of getting ill and ending up in AE for 72 hours, not a protest.

Yes, anyone with a visa

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/03/2024 18:18

I think it was a veiled threat.

I assume Sunak will be putting his money where his mouth is and kicking the extremists such as Braverman and Truss out of his party after that speech. I won’t hold my breath. Nor will I be holding my breath that Tory MPs will now be calling Anderson racist rather than wrong in their next interviews.

I'm guessing a working visa and not including those on holiday. Actors and musicians better beware.

Exactly he is beyond contempt, this week has been a new low.

Yes, you'd think he might have thought to clarify...well, any of what that was about. I don't know if I am at risk for simply wanting the killing of children to stop and posting about it on here!

Would have been the perfect opportunity for him to call the GE and show some democracy in action. The absence of calling it with the lectern out does rather shout to the absence of visible democracy when putting down protesters is being spouted by someone we haven't directly voted for.

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2024 18:29

Larry the Cat says

That speech could have been an email.

By the looks of the last PMQs he hasn't exactly thrown Anderson out.
