What can your husband not do?

Mine can not make a decent cup of tea. We have been together nearly 20 years and it’s just dawned on me! He’s a lovely man, works hard, good at DIY etc but his tea skills are not up to par. On balance I think I’ll keep him but it just made me wonder!!

OP posts:

He cannot carry 2 plates into the kitchen! It's absolutely beyond him to pile them one on the other and he has to come back for mine!
(He's actually finally got my tea spot on, but it's been around 29 years of mainly too much milk, when he knows I only have a tiny little splash!)

Strictlymad · 21/02/2024 20:16

I filmed a video of me making tea, I even showed him to fill the cap of milk with milk as a measure as I only like a little and he always did too much. Only married 8 years so by these standards he’s a quick learner! The video deffo helped lol

PuttingDownRoots · 21/02/2024 20:18

Remember what goes in the recycling bin. I'm constantly removing stuff from it! The annoying thing is... the council bin instructions are above the bin in the kitchen!! (For the schedule, I'm not some sort of control freak!)

Ladyj84 · 21/02/2024 20:26

Great at majority of things but can't cook a decent fried egg haha

TheChosenTwo · 21/02/2024 20:29

Multi task.
drives me mad as if I talk to him while he’s doing something he says he can’t concentrate yet when im doing things he still talks to me and I can do both the thing and listen at once!
He also can’t make good pancakes or stir fry’s - I think it’s a fast cooking thing, probably requires too much multitasking again 😂

MinervatheGreat · 21/02/2024 20:30

Can’t understand the temperature & separate multi function controls on the double oven.

Ive had to put stickers on the oven for guidance, just like primary school.

EdithStourton · 21/02/2024 20:31

Distinguish the dog shit from the dead leaves on the lawn and pick it up. Though he is learning now as I had a huge go at him the other day as I was sick to bloody death of always being responsible.

He is also utterly shit at hanging laundry. It doesn't dry evenly and gets all creased. Also shit at bed-making

But he can cook, hoover and dust, be relied on to do the grocery shopping and is decent at DIY. Given what his parents' house looked like, and what their diet was like, this is nothing short of a miracle.

VenusClapTrap · 21/02/2024 20:31

Drive nicely. I just do all the driving. People over the years have called me a control freak and told me he just needs practise. Then they get in the car with him… Once. They don’t do it again.

I don’t know how he passed his test.

BarbaraVineFan · 21/02/2024 20:32

Mine (now ex) couldn't keep his willy in his pants and out of other women.

Maybe that's not the kind of thing you meant OP!?

MotherOfVizslas · 21/02/2024 20:32

Close drawers. Put teabags in the bin. Otherwise he's awesome.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/02/2024 20:32

Put the chicken food holder back at chicken head height so the poor things can actually get into it.

Businessflake · 21/02/2024 20:33

Stack the dishwasher properly. Washing up in general. It’s like he becomes partially sighted.

amberedover1 · 21/02/2024 20:33

Wow@Strictlymad that is some impressive problem solving .
I feel there is a gap in the market - you could hire yourself out to help others in need of training partners.
Might be another whole market aimed at offspring.

Exist, appear and find me 😀

I nearly wrote this too! 😂

Oh dear lord the dishwasher stacking! Zero logic! I have to rearrange it constantly.

Actually I probably am a bit of a control freak.

Slanketblanket · 21/02/2024 20:35

Turning on the heated airer, so he lets it all hang there under the cover in the cold so it all goes dank and fusty smelling. You have to press a button and set the timer but he cannot fathom it. I caught him out there with a YouTube video of it still looking confused.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 21/02/2024 20:36

Tell his left from his right.

NewName24 · 21/02/2024 20:36

Close drawers and cupboards !!

I know. He is an incredibly capable man with many skills I don't have (as well as many I do) but this defeats him on a daily basis. Bizarre.

Mummyofthewildones · 21/02/2024 20:36

Find anything, even if I tell him exactly which shelf of which cupboard 🙄

Mumoftwo1312 · 21/02/2024 20:36

My dh can't slice a fresh mango into chunks.

He just can't get his head round where the stone is, tries to cut it crossways and hits the stone and messes it up and has to get me to do it. You wouldn't think this would affect the household much but it's dd's favourite fruit!

Korkie · 21/02/2024 20:36

Undo a bra when it's being worn ( not by him I hasten to add ) it defies him even when he's using both hands.

Icantbedoingwithit · 21/02/2024 20:38

Do anything online, car tax, insurance, buying anything etc. I have to do it all. Drives me insane!

Mumoftwo1312 · 21/02/2024 20:38

Haha lots of women struggle with this too, do you remember the classic thread years ago that found over 20% of women are bra-swivelers? I'm a bra swiveler

Topseyt123 · 21/02/2024 20:38

He apparently can't tell whether the dishwasher is clean and needs emptied or whether the dishes in it are dirty and waiting until it is full and can go on. Nor can he stack it efficiently for toffee. 🙄
