Scottish Hotel for Fiancé's 30th Birthday

Looking to book an overnight stay for my Fiancés 30th at the beginning of March. Can anyone recommend a Scottish hotel? We stay in Edinburgh and happy to travel up to 2 hours.

Debating whether to take all 3 kids or just the youngest who will be 4 weeks. Our other two are 3 and 21 months.

Currently looking at Trump Turnberry as it has a lot of perks for us! My Fiancé is a very keen golfer and we both love to swim, a nice walk, good food and a few drinks.

Thanks in advance!!

Do you not care that Trump owns it then?

Gleneagles if budget allows, but one night just isn’t enough. Loads for everyone to do but you not have enough time to enjoy all it offers.

Glencoe house hotel is amazing and one of our favourite places. Not a hotel in a traditional sense but utterly amazing.

Oh and the fairmont at St Andrews which of course is the one course every golfer wants to play.

Cameron House at Loch Lomond would tick your boxes of pool, spa, golf course. Plus you are easy distance to some beautiful scenery and nice walks,

Further afield with less to do but stunning and restful with great food and drink:
The George Hotel in Inveraray.
Several nice hotels in Inveraray, actually.

We stayed at Turnberry for dh 40th and we really enjoyed it

Another Cameron house vote here, also Roman camp hotel in Callander was beautiful

I went to a day spa at trump turnberry and wasn’t impressed. Had the look of opulence with lots of bling but not great actual substance. Plus the pool was full of…well, trumpy type men.

I’ve stayed at Fairmont which was lovely, the breakfast was especially enjoyable and the rooms lovely and spacious. Posh.

I love Auchrannie on Arran too.

Haven’t stayed at Cromlix but that’s another fancy option that I hear is nice…

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 19/02/2024 15:23

Cromlix would get my vote. It is very pricey but a beautiful country house with fabulous food.

Crieff Hydro.

Fuck giving Trump any money.

Costacoffeeplease · 19/02/2024 15:55

Cameron House

SirChenjins · 19/02/2024 16:04

I wouldn’t give Trump or Cameron House a penny of my money.

This place is fab if you’re looking for quiet and restful with amazing food and views https://monachylemhor.net/

usedtobeasizeten · 19/02/2024 16:55

Gleneagles.

Yes I love it there. It is very expensive for what it is though and dinner is £85 a head! The scenery is to die for.

Moor of Rannoch.

Take the train to Glasgow and then onto Rannoch station. The hotel is beside the station.

Auchrannie on Arran would be my vote. Make sure you book the boat!
Turnberry is very plastic, apart from the whole Trump thing.
Old Course Hotel in St Andrews is nice.

postitnot · 19/02/2024 17:39

The peebles hydro is very nice, we went there because of the mountain biking, but I think there's golf nearby. Might be too close to home though?

AuntyMabelandPippin · 19/02/2024 17:40

Marine Hotel at North Berwick has a lovely spa, and there's loads of golf courses around.

I think cromlix is closed for redecoration. Gleneagles would be my suggestion.

Another vote for Fonab. Spent our honeymoon there. Lovely, lovely place.
