Be honest with me about my teeth…

Putting myself on the line here but 😬

I really hate my teeth. It’s affecting my self esteem but I don’t particularly have the funds for private dental work and getting an NHS appointment is very hard, so I get them seen infrequently. I know it’s not ideal.

I brush 2, sometimes 3 times a day and invest in the best toothpaste & mouthwash available. I floss too and try not to have too much sugar. Despite doing all this I feel like they are not very white, at all - especially the ones at the side.

I don’t know if it’s just a me problem and it’s all in my head that others can see it too. So… If you saw my teeth would you notice them as anything out the ordinary or would you not really think much at all?

Genuinely I think your teeth are lovely!

LoveAHamSandwhich · 16/02/2024 16:06

I would think they are lovely. Far nicer, and natural, than those dreadful bright white "Turkey teeth" that are in fashion

TheSameClip · 16/02/2024 16:06

They look like completely normal teeth in pretty good shape, nice and straight. I wouldn’t have even noticed them, to be honest.

You are definitely being paranoid, they are fine!

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2024 16:07

They are absolutely fine! Lovely and straight and a natural colour. I know what you mean about the side ones but most people get that, yours aren’t bad at all!

HaaateMyTeeth · 16/02/2024 16:07

Thank you. I wasn’t fishing for compliments I genuinely think it’s only the middle two that even look slightly white, and the ones further in seem yellow to me. I’m really relieved to think they’re unremarkable.

Christ alive

Lovely teeth, and a lot whiter than mine.
The dentin under our enamel is slightly darker, if you are brushing too much/hard you may be thinning the enamel so that shows through more. Teeth do appear darker as we age due to enamel wearing anyway, stop brushing too much -and never brush after acidic foods/drink.

LightSwerve · 16/02/2024 16:09

It's a you problem.

Those teeth are objectively good. They are straight, clean and white.

Stop obsessing and don't look at pictures of fake teeth.

coxesorangepippin · 16/02/2024 16:10

Oh come on

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 16/02/2024 16:10

Teeth aren't meant to be pure white. Veneers and whitening treatments are giving a false idea of what normal teeth are like.

Oblomov24 · 16/02/2024 16:11

They are fine, very straight and even. You could get a price for evening up/ strengthening the top 2, that's it.

Viewfrommyhouse · 16/02/2024 16:11

They're lovely! Straight, even. Tooth enamel isn't bright white - certainly not white like all the Turkey teeth we see these days. If you did want to consider lightening them, a good measure would be to have them the same colour as the white of your eyes. But honestly, I think yours are a perfectly fine colour too.

NotObligedToArgueWithStrangers · 16/02/2024 16:13

They look like perfectly normal, straight, healthy white teeth. Please don't aspire to the ultra white perfect look that you see in the media. Teeth are not supposed to look like that.

Applespies23 · 16/02/2024 16:14

I'm paying privately for Invisalign and whitening so I can have teeth like yours! They're great.

Feb123 · 16/02/2024 16:15

Wow you have lovely teeth. Was not expecting that. Maybe you have some sort of dysphoria though

boredybored · 16/02/2024 16:15

They are very straight , I'd presume you at least had a brace when younger if I met you

Why not just get them whitened ? I had mine done in lockdown and they are loads whiter than they were .

It was £250 ish and well worth it ! Mine are straight but for some reason my front tooth was discoloured ( way worse than yours ) .

Mine are straight and white now .

As above fake teeth are not a representation of good natural teeth

A lot of the young people have composite bonds if not veneers so it's not real .

Your teeth are above average I'd say .

Comedycook · 16/02/2024 16:17

Your teeth look white to me...way whiter than mine. You're probably just becoming used to seeing bright white veneers everywhere!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/02/2024 16:17

Teeth aren't meant to be pure white. Veneers and whitening treatments are giving a false idea of what normal teeth are like.

Definitely this.

It's quite sad how much people these days are doubting their appearance based on the normalising / aspiring to current cosmetic procedures.

TheDogAteMyDinner · 16/02/2024 16:20

Your teeth are really nice, most people’s ideal. Straight and natural. You are too used to seeing people with those awful glowing veneers. I think veneers look absolutely awful.

GreatGateauxsby · 16/02/2024 16:35

This is in your head… your teeth look good you have a nice natural smile and natural shade of whiteness

Yozzer87 · 16/02/2024 16:37

They look OK to me. They aren't perfectly straight or white but that can look fake. If a whitening treatment would give you more confidence, go for that.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 16/02/2024 16:40

I'm seeing a beautiful set of teeth between beautiful full lips and I'm guessing an attractive face. If you have a hang up about this, if this is seriously your worst feature then you need to get a grip. I'm expect you have been a very lucky and blessed person.

Universalsnail · 16/02/2024 16:55

I would love to have your teeth. Mine are very crooked (should have had a brace as a child but some reason was never given one). Falling apart. I have missing teeth I have to have a denture for. I take care of my teeth. Brush floss and mouthwash twice a day. Low sugar. Dentist every 6 months

Honestly I wish I had your teeth instead. They look great.

Mynewnameis · 16/02/2024 16:56

Better than about 98% of teeth in the UK I'd imagine
