Has anything you usually buy recently just disappeared from shops?

I cannot find 'cook at home' poppadums anywhere. Used to be in most supermarkets. I used to buy them all the time. I go to my local Indian shop for them sometimes but they've usually only got flavours I don't favour. The ready made ones aren't as nice and are usually in a load of plastic non-recylcable packaging which doesn't please me either.

I don't mean products that have been discontinued a long time ago, more so things that still exist but you just can't buy anywhere from recently!

Own brand coffee creamer is another one. Don't use it myself but I've heard people at work saying this often.

Dentinox cradle cap shampoo. Can’t seem to find it anywhere for my baby and my current bottle is nearly gone!

This is back in stock on Amazon now! Apparently they had production issues so you weren't able to get it for ages! :)

Frozen vegetable base mix - carrot, onion and celery chopped into pieces far smaller than I’ll ever have the patience for. Gone from all the major supermarkets.

Soffritto mix, one pound forty in Waitrose 😍

I've noticed quite a few things disappearing from stock over the last couple of years. Tesco used to do a really nice freshly squeezed OJ, seems to have vanished now. In our local shops it's getting harder and harder to find free range chicken of any kind. One (Morrisons) doesn't sell it any more and it's often out of stock in the others.
we used to buy frozen edamame beans but can't find them any more.
Really noticing everything shrinking over the past couple of months too.

A few people on the thread have said Amazon but it still shows out of stock to me!

there’s ‘other buying options’ at £9 plus delivery but it’s usually a £2.50 shampoo and it doesn’t last me long with twins

I will keep checking until my bottle runs out then order it from boots for £4.50 😂

Pear Drops!
I know I can get them online and in proper sweet shops, but sometimes I just want to grab some from the supermarket, they used to be a staple with the humbugs and dolly mixture!

B&M have them. It's the only place I've been able to find them recently.

DoodlesMam · 15/02/2024 23:34

smoked mozarella - scamorza - from Tesco has disappeared. my favorite Italian cheese.

I end up buying packs of six or more - at inflated prices - when it's become clear things are disappearing. This only delays the misery, of course, but I keep hoping shortages are just due to post-Brexit logistics blips, and they'll come back (few have so far).

There's hydrocortisone cream on Amazon.

I'm still bereft over the withdrawal of Day Nurse. That stuff was magic. Also Ranitidine - seems that OTC meds which actually work are doomed!

I miss Syndol the original variety with antihistamine. It was so good for migraines.

English Cox’s apples.

They are the best apples by far. I used to eat them all the time but I found about four packs of them this season. They were constantly out of stock, even in M&S & Waitrose. The discount supermarkets don’t stock them at all, but they all sell tasteless foreign rubbish like Jazz & Pink Lady 🤮. Bring back proper apples!

Yes to this! Bring back Cox's apples, they are the best

Brown and Poulson Cornflour.

I can’t eat gluten so it is the only thing I can use to make a sauce.

Have tried all the supermarket own brands but they all go lumpy.

I hate lumpy sauce, so no more Lasagne for me.”*

I make sauces with ordinary (Dove’s Farm) g-f flour. Is that wrong?

No @Februarysiceandsleet I have just grown up eating sauces made with Cornflour.

Tbh I don’t ever use flour except on the very rare occasion when I make a cake. Then I would use Doves Farm.

Not for me but my Mum can't get own brand powdered milk, only Coffee Mate which she doesn't like.
Also our local Morrisons doesn't have Bisto powder any more.

I have bought a cardboard tub of skimmed powdered milk from Co-op and a plastic pack of powdered milk from Morrisons (my local smallish store) both in the last month or so. Definitely harder to find than usual though

You can buy the missing ingredient online, it’s called doxylamine succinate. It’s usually marketed as a sleep aid, Kirkland is the brand you’re most likely to find. I used to take half of one of those with two
co-codamol for the same migraine relieving effect.

CornflakeGirl18 · 15/02/2024 23:54

Chicken Bovril. It used to be perfect for soup stock.

I think cornflour is easier but wheat or g-f flour works, too. I make milk-based sauces in the microwave.

Dishwasher salt and own brand cereal. So strange.

isitshe · 16/02/2024 00:04

M&S have stopped doing their boxes of 15 mixed-size eggs. They were the best value of anywhere I shopped & really good quality.

I live in the middle of nowhere so it may well be just a local issue (as it usually is here) but I can't get frozen hash browns for love nor money. I remember the bags getting low on lidl in December and realising that I thought it was just me buying a bag a week as could count the bags each week. I took the last one before Christmas and they haven't restocked! I keep checking. I even drove the ten miles to the next lidls and found none. It's crazy but I may trek to the city for the four hour round trip just to find them.

Are you anywhere near an Iceland or Range? They have them.

not4profit · 16/02/2024 00:19

I hear that Campbell's condensed soup has now reappeared in Waitrose, according to a relative who had been bemoaned its absence. Apparently it disappeared temporarily due to some sort of licensing dispute.
