What’s the biggest waste of money you have ever seen?

Last summer I was in a newsagent and the woman in front of me bought 11 of those rubishy childrens magazines, she was having a party and wanted them to keep the children busy.

It was €55.

I’m sure there is a lot worse things that people have wasted money on, (and I can’t believe I am still thinking about It) but even one of them magazines is a total waste of money.

I occasionally get McDonald's delivered because it's one of the only things I can get delivered due to a lack of gluten free options where I live! Burger, no bun and fries is a safer option than risking Chinese (the couple I tried didn't seem to understand what I was asking when I rang to check if they used gluten/wheat 😬) and my other option is stupidly expensive pizza.

Most Chinese food has soy sauce in which isn't gf. Most Currys from an Indian takeaway should be gf tho!

Other than the things already mentioned, I waste a lot of money on things.

I go through phases where I buy new clothes purely because it's quicker than washing existing ones.

Booked a luxury hotel room for a nap once, because I was tired in the middle of the day. Didn't stay the night, just napped and left.

Booked Blacklane just to move my suitcases from one villa to another when I was on holiday once.

Deliveroo Nando's kids meals for my pets.

You've got to either be mega rich with money to burn, or properly crazy! Either way if you want to waste your money I'm happy to do it for you 😆

@Swipernoswipingg

Sadiq Khans new overground name change - costing 6M!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly thought the announcement was from some parody account at first.

There's no way a complete rebranding exercise like that will 'only' cost £6m. Don't be surprised if it turns out to be closer to £60m.

Total waste of money, but if it triggers some "gammons" apparently waste is ok.

Over the years I’ve seen loads of viability assessments on buildings that are carried out using various arts/ heritage grants.
Basically a massive amount of money is given to architects to draw up pie in the sky / hugely ambitious plans for buildings at risk.
eg, this building could be a community hub with a cinema, pool, arts space , cafe etc, it will cost many millions to do the work .
The architects are paid handsomely for their work, drawings etc, and then the plans are rejected by local authorities as not viable due to cost. It seems like madness to me.

That absolute tosser on Grand Designs last night. So full of his own importance he pissed hundreds of thousands of pounds up a wall to create a huge, invasive, soulless white box on a coastal community and fell out with his own family in the process.
