Some discontinued stuff I would love to return:

1.) Ham and cheese mini Cheddars

2.) Jaffa cakes with the lime filling

3.) And most of all Birds hot crunch pudding (banana for preference)

Anything you really miss? Food that were part of your childhood....

Freshen Up gum. You could get spearmint or peppermint in metallic shades of green or blue. Individually wrapped pieces of gum inside which had a liquid filling when you bit into them.

Mint Clubs made with plain chocolate
Boxes of 10 proper-sized Mars bars
Big cartons of made-up Ribena (haven't seen those in years)
Those Boboli pizzas Sainsbury's used to sell in the 90s
Same supermarket's classic cola (slab for £3.99, ace)
Bit niche and locality-specific, but Rocket Joe's square pizzas - unlikely to mean anything unless you were living in Cardiff in the mid 90s though 😆

Terrys all gold - dark. My absolute favourites and only discontinued in recent years

Yes! Finally! No one I know recalls them. I didn't recall the name so thank you. I was very very young - about 4yo. I recall eating white and green striped opal fruit type sweets that were mint flavour. Pacers...I'll remember that!

They weren't oval I thought but square.

They were spearmint and tasted awful, a bit like sweets made out of toothpaste.

I'm not surprised they were banished to hell.

Edit : Sorry I thought you said oval not opal.

Also just remembered a mousse I loved as a child in the 80’s … it was pink creamy hippo mousse and the tv advert had hippos diving into the mousse ?
It was sooo nice.
Hippo pot a mousse?

I also used to like a dessert thing in pots from the early 2000’s , it was a jam or syrup sponge pudding and had a layer of custard and you could either eat it hot or cold , you bought it in the fridge department of a supermarket. It was a brand name not a supermarket brand.

Chambourcy Hippo Pota Mousse - it was strawberry fromage frais.

I miss their chocolate mousses as well.

Edited

They were spearmint and simply divine, much nicer than peppermint - polos or glacier mints.

FijiSea · 09/02/2024 18:08

Yes @Mirabai , the mousses nowadays are like eating a puff of chocolate air, nothing to them.

TinselMakeover · 09/02/2024 18:10

M&S scotch gastronomic scotch eggs. You cook them in oven. All weird and rubbery and pale, tiny eggs. It was ewww…

TinselMakeover · 09/02/2024 18:13

sixtiesbaby88 · 09/02/2024 20:47

Boxed lemon meringue pie. What was the brand?? You made it up yourself. Three packets, biscuit base, lemon filling and meringue top

I'm sure it was made by Greens

Yes it was. I mentioned earlier there was another brand called Royal that my mum preferred. She always served it hot from the oven, I don’t know if that’s normal though?!

M&S cheese and celery sandwiches.

I saw that in M&S last week!

BouleDeSuif · 11/02/2024 12:53

In I think 2008/9 Marks and Spencer used to do a chocolate brownie type pudding in an enamel pie dish and they were lovely, plus you got a pie dish. I think there was a lemon version too.
And they did carrot cake cookies and I won't forgive them for stopping those.
