Do you have a question OP? I’m presuming you want to know if someone in same situation/advice:

If you have been suffering from headaches every day you need to go to the GP. It is probably nothing serious, but you need to do. You can get rebound headaches if you take painkillers each day - so you may find your GP tells you to reduce medication, but see what they say.

SeaToSki · 08/02/2024 14:38

The pain killers might be actually causing the headaches now (if you are taking them everyday). Try and stop for a week and see what happens. If you cant get by without them, then talk to your GP

Yes sorry some advice I will stop the tablets , headaches aren't really bad .

Are you drinking enough water during the day? Dehydration can cause headaches and tiredness.

enjoyingscience · 08/02/2024 20:35

You absolutely need to see the GP, but yes, the painkillers might be the cause now if you’ve been taking them daily for a while.

bryceQ · 08/02/2024 20:39

Could be caused by loads of things, best to keep a tracker and see GP

Go to the GP. Headaches can be something or nothing. But only the GP can tell you if they are something.

There is a good chance the headaches are hormonal - it is pretty common in peri due to fluctuations in oestrogen levels. I am suffering similarly after barely having a headache since I went through puberty. No harm getting checked out though by the GP and an optician.

Citrusandginger · 08/02/2024 21:41

Paracetamol plus have caffeine in. I would suggest knocking those on the head and using regular paracetamol instead.

The advice to keep a diary to identify triggers is good. As is the recommendation to keep hydrated.

If symptoms persist or get worse, I would check in with your GP or 111.

ColdAsConcrete · 08/02/2024 21:47

Have you had your eyes checked recently?

Owlontheprowl · 08/02/2024 21:48

When was the last time you had an eye test?

Sewaccidentprone · 08/02/2024 21:50

Rebound headache

Sewaccidentprone · 08/02/2024 21:50

Caused by daily painkiller use

Paw2024 · 08/02/2024 21:58

Try some of the 4head stick or the patches, they're quite good and lots of water

Frosty1000 · 08/02/2024 22:13

You might need a preventative medication from the doctor if you are getting them daily and it'll help wean off the paracetamol but as a pp said hormonal changes are terrible for headaches. White tiger balm is a godsend btw.

lockdownrainbow · 08/02/2024 22:13

Thanks everyone I suspect they are probably hormonal too as going through the peri menopause. Re eyes I wear glasses and only just been to opticians.

Lots of good advice already…would you consider trying HRT?

I tried to avoid it for a while but eventually went for a Mirena coil and after trying spray and gel am now on Evorel patches.

I didn’t get migraines but my other symptoms have improved.

A lot of women put off taking HRT when it can make a real difference. It also can take a while to find one that suits you so not a bad idea to start investigating early doors.

Magnesium supplements can help with headaches

LWSnow · 08/02/2024 22:29

The pain killers you're taking can actually cause headaches if you take them regularly

lockdownrainbow · 08/02/2024 23:28

I tried hrt made my peri menopause symptoms. Did use to get migraines when I was 16 at college. Headaches always been an issue. Doesn't help that I have an addictive personality. Addicted to watching tv, chocolate etc

Do check your blood pressure too that might be the cause.

Safxxx · 08/02/2024 23:51

Try alternative remedies like Accupuncture or wet cupping this really helps me with a lot of pain issues....also do you suffer from neck or shoulder pain...that too can cause headaches

fromBodentoBandM · 08/02/2024 23:56

Clicked on this like a shot
I am in same boat. Lots of panadol and they are obvs rebound headaches
Not sure how I will go without but I will try...

fridaseyebrows · 09/02/2024 00:16

Please be careful with ibuprofen. My dad ended up with a ruptured bowel needing emergency surgery after taking daily ibuprofen for headaches over an extended period. Surgeon told him it was surprisingly common.
