Piffy on a rock bun

Does anyone else use this idiom regularly, or just me?

usually shortened to ‘Like Piffy’ as in. “ I’m stood here like Piffy whilst you lot faff around”
I baffled a few colleagues at work the first time I used it and my DH had never heard it either.

DH uses the phrase ‘Like Wanna Lockharte’ in a similar context. (No idea if any of that is spelt correctly)
We were both born in Lancashire for context.

My mother used to say 'like Venus on a rock bun.' Also from the north, though not Lancashire.

Piffy on a rock. No bun or cake. South Manchester.

AhBiscuits · 03/02/2024 21:17

What?
Never heard either in my life.

AhBiscuits · 03/02/2024 21:18

WTF is Piffy?

BruceAndNosh · 03/02/2024 21:21

Yep. I'm Irish but picked the phrase up in Manchester. No one in Belfast understands it!

Winberry · 03/02/2024 21:21

Yes! Piffy on a Rock Bun or sat there like Piffy. Manchester. Still no idea who Piffy is.

theduchessofspork · 03/02/2024 21:23

No but I might adopt the Venus version

Haven’t had a rock bun for years

minimoojo · 03/02/2024 21:23

Yes! Both stood here like piffy, and piffy on a rock bun! Mum used it when I was growing up in Cheshire, she's from Oldham. Love it and I still use it!
