We have two

WEEK A FAM - (50/50 custody split)

OG FAM - (slang for original gangsters, group chat with just my ex and kids, set up by the teens obviously 🤦‍♀️)

OP posts:

S Squad

ThePoshUns · 02/02/2024 21:48

And familam

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 02/02/2024 21:56

We have a few. One for my DH and 12 year old DS that lives at home is 3 musketeers (named by DS)

The other one has all our older kids and their partners on, and at times DH ex wife too (we like her a lot!) and is called the Indiana bones group….. DS named it, I think because he wanted a dog and was trying to get dog puns into every conversation at that point!

for those asking, the top chat is usually logistics about school pick ups and food. The second we use for photos of us all, arranging get togethers, asking questions and generally chatting on.

we also have a third with extended family on which is just surname family chat. We only use that one to wish each other happy birthday on really!

Outofideas79 · 02/02/2024 22:00

We have one called 'The Tories are dangerous and other contentious subjects' for all the political stuff we can't discuss in front of some family members who get offended 🤣

FunionsRFun · 02/02/2024 22:02

Mummy and Babies. My mum in her 60s and me and my sister- both 30s

murasaki · 02/02/2024 22:03

The 'our surname' family. Think a famous film but with a different spelling. So original, dad.

blackheartsgirl · 02/02/2024 22:03

Ours is fam bam.

me, ds, dd2, dd3, my ds partner and my nephew. Dd1 didn’t want to be in it.

its alright but the younger dds are 13 and 16 and are just silly on it, making silly comments and spamming it with selfies.

2chocolateoranges · 02/02/2024 22:04

Ours is Team surname.

Lantyslee · 02/02/2024 22:07

Our immediate family (Me, DH and DC) is Eyes On after the TV programme Hunted.

KThnxBye · 02/02/2024 22:07

I thought you meant family chats where we all sit around to talk about something.

We call them War Councils.

I don’t have any group chats with family members. I don’t know it was a thing.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/02/2024 22:09

The Dweebs.

Davros · 02/02/2024 22:09

We have "surname cousins" and "Lovely Surname", cousin groups from both sides of the family. One side has just been messaging through the rugby.

TreesWelliesKnees · 02/02/2024 22:10

'Mum's missives', because it's just me giving instructions to the three DC.

Marmite27 · 02/02/2024 22:10

My side is called N.E.W because I’m boring and couldn’t think of anything else when my sil left my brother and we needed a group chat without her. DB said I couldn’t remove her from the old one.

My besties group is ‘Place’ Mums, DH’s side is ‘Surname Group’ and there’s been numerous one’s called variations on ‘Mum updates’ to keep us all abreast of MiL’s health issues.

I did have one called ‘Lettuce Pray’ after the other two members mocked me about the amount of lettuce I had in my fridge once. Tesco had sent me double the amount of romaine I’d asked for and I think there were 11 in the fridge Grin

SavingEveryLastPenny · 02/02/2024 22:13

Ours aren't named.. Just our names at top

Me mum dsis
Me mum dsis, dbro, sil, dh
Me mum dsis dh dbro
A large one of about 20 of us who meet every weekend in summer for bbqs, taking it in turns to host. So this time of year its quiet..April onwards it's non stop. Arranging and fun stuff.

We talk about absolute tripe on the family ones. Our day, arranging to meet up, venting, pics of all the kids or whatever.

Bluewallss · 02/02/2024 22:13

Bertie’s bitches

Bertie is the dog.
We are his bitches.

KCSIE · 02/02/2024 22:16

Ours is a mash-up of our collective surnames, the first 3 or 4 letters of each (between marriages and divorce and remarriages there are a 6 different surnames)!

ReignOfError · 02/02/2024 22:19

Tatumm · 02/02/2024 21:33

We don’t have one. What do you talk about?

Just checked back. Across various groups: Books. Dogs. Kids. Football. Days out. Celebrations. Invitations to dinner/party/picnic in the park. Grandkids birthday presents. What that idiot next door did now. Swimming lessons. Acting. Queries about my car. Bad jokes. Jobs. Good jokes. Holidays. Requests for help and advice. Refusals…

Our group names are either boring initials, or dead sarky in-jokes, both relating to who is in the group.

scoobs321 · 02/02/2024 22:21

We have one between me and my 3 DDs aged 27,24,20 called Your Mum.
I set that up.

I also have one for just my younger two called Yous Two - we are not scouse.

Multipleexclamationmarks · 02/02/2024 22:22

We have 2.
1 for us all called Clan *&^%(surname)
1 called Mum's Nagging Group which is just me and the 2 teens that live at home.

cariadlet · 02/02/2024 22:28

Mine is just "Family".

Only myself, dp and dd in it. Dd is a student and she set it up when went to Uni. It's useful to keep the 3 of us all in the loop with dates she's coming home etc.

Got2getout · 02/02/2024 22:30

Haven’t got one, never felt the need. It’s easy enough to communicate with individuals by call or txt. I only use WhatsApp for work, and I begrudge that to be honest.

Perhaps I am a dinosaur.

Borris · 02/02/2024 22:39

The wider family is "surname keeping in touch"
My mum and sisters is our original surname with a y on the end.

Chelsea26 · 02/02/2024 22:53

The surname’s is my family one, mum, dad siblings and our partners.

The Big Bad 6 is me, DP and our four kids

Sibs for the siblings and I also have sibs excluding John/Tony/Mary which are pretty much only used for discussing birthday presents for the excluded one. I’m sure they have a sibs ex Chelsea one too.

SteamingTangerine · 02/02/2024 23:05

We have two, a 'family chat' and a 'family chat without nan' where we discuss all the things that would offend my dm (my adult dcs' nan) Grin
