Looking forward to nights recorded efforts - WTF, its not on tonight
and as the previous few weeks, we did not get an episode on Tuesday

ITV has so many channels that it could have easily put the crap on in place ofCS on another channel

Why have we been shortage again, disgusting!

im amazed anyone still watches it. Genuinely bemused by that.

Sometimes I do wonder why I still watch it! I think 'it will get better soon,' and it does have some good spells. The acid attack storyline was a very good storyline - and well acted and well written. And I have been watching it 48 years, so it's hard to quit it! It's like a friend or family member you have known all your life, and they get on your nerves sometimes, but you have to/want to remain loyal because you still care about them, you still have some good times with them, and you have lots of nostalgia and memories ... going back to your childhood.

Or like a marriage that has been going for 3, 4, 5 decades or more. Although it has its troubles, and it's tedious sometimes, and you're both a bit past your sell-by date and you get on each other nerves half the time, you still have some good times, there is much love and fondness there still, and again - you have many good memories - and nostalgia.

Corrie was my mother's (and grandmother's) favourite show, and one of my father's! We used to watch it religiously every Monday and Wednesday, in the 1970s - and loved the iconic characters. Vera and Jack, Stan and Hilda, Annie Walker, Ena Sharples, Albert Tatlock, Bet Lynch, The Tisleys, The Barlows, (Ken and Deidre of course,) and Elsie Tanner etc etc...

Then it moved to 3 times a week and then 4 in the 1980s/1990s, and we still watched it. At that point I watched it with DH though, and in the noughties with DH and the DC.

So it is REALLY HARD to just stop watching it. I watch Classic Corrie too - currently at 2004, but that is quickly catching up to the present day. And even in 2004 I can see it starting to get a little bit daft, with how ridiculous Sally is behaving. She is becoming a snob, and her personality has completely changed.

I think more daft storylines are coming soon in Classic Corrie, and random people will start turning up and moving in with people (even though the new people have never been mentioned before!) And people will keep getting a job in the street (within 3 days of moving there,) and moving in with someone who has a small 2 bedroom terraced house that already has 4-5 people living there. There will also soon be an irrational amount of murders and bad guys ... SO much drama, deaths, bad guys, and murders in one street! Silly and unrealistic!

I wish they would start Classic Corrie again, and start at 1970.

I used to love it @SweetBirdsong - but once those icons - and the humour - were exchanged for sensationalist crap storylines, I just gave up with a sigh.

Edited to add: characters such as Blanche, and Chesney's ghastly mother (can't remember her name) and Mavis and Derek, really made the show.

I hear ya @Emotionalsupportviper !!!

I used to watch it religiously about 20 years ago. Then I moved to mainland Europe and was proper gutted I couldn’t get it. I came back a few yeses later and never bothered again, occasionally if I’m flicking I can see its the same characters, like eastenders. It’s literally the same folks doing some variation of the same shit time and time again. Shagging dumping fighting cheating,

switched the tv on the other night and it was on bbc 1 and it was bloody Sharon and Phil. Couldn’t believe it. Thought I was in a time warp!

TheShellBeach · 02/02/2024 21:40

I watched the very first episode.

VaccineSticker · 02/02/2024 21:48

It’s days are numbered. I hardly know anyone who watches it now, especially the younger generation who are on their phones all the time with much more entairtaiming content like TikTok and recently the rise of on-demand tv like Netflix which produce a much higher quality products than CS

ireallycantthinkofaname · 02/02/2024 21:49

I can't tell if this is satire or not 😔

BarelyLiterate · 02/02/2024 21:50

I haven't watched corrie for about 30 years, I'm glad to hear it's still going, even if it gets bumped by the rugby tonight. Is Bet Lynch still in it? She must be getting on a bit now.

Ramalangadingdong · 02/02/2024 21:50

From your heading I thought you were going to say they were taking it off. I don’t watch it anymore but that would have been sad news. I used to watch it as a child (I’m old) and I am hoping it will outlive me.

Mybusyday · 02/02/2024 22:12

Well I'm with you - I have the house to myself tonight, a box of chocolates and a bottle of Baileys and I have been looking forward to watching Corrie all day!

WaterHound · 02/02/2024 22:41

It was a great match OP, I hope you watched it! Ireland were awesome! 💪

Bluevelvetsofa · 02/02/2024 13:08

It’s because football and rugby are deemed more important than anything else and the schedules can be changed at will, to accommodate them.

There are times when there’s sport on the terrestrial and Sky channels and very little else.

Itv have broadcasting rights for particular football and rugby matches and after paying the money for those rights, are obliged to show them. Therefore episodes of Corontion Street get rearranged for another day

DistinguishedSocialCommenator · 02/02/2024 13:55

Hello,

FFS it is seriously important to me and possibly millions of CS fans

But presumably you didn't miss anything. The same story would have been picked up with the next episode. You didn't miss what happened that week.

You do realise this is not actually reality TV? Sorry if I'm breaking that to you.

UnctuousUnicorns · 02/02/2024 23:58

I'm old 👵 enough to remember when it were on just once a week. No internet or catch up or whathaveyou back then. Folks these days don't know they're born.

Whatayear2023 · 03/02/2024 00:00

Maybe the actors can't work tonight cause they watching the rugby? Wouldn't be a good show if they all sat in the rovers watching it on the big screen.. enough of the negative towards this street these are real people and some of us love following their day to day trials and tribulations... I remember camping outside in the cold eating whatever left overs was given to me for months to help free deirdree.... ease off

😂at the thread title.

OP, are you the person that writes the tabloid headlines where they say things like "This Morning AXED in MAJOR tv schedule shake-up" and it turns out it's not on because it's a bank holiday.

Quite.

I assumed from the title that the plug was being pulled on the very much past its sell by date soap completely.
That, or that someone had died.

Over reaction much ?

FFS! MIL imposed this drivel on us throughout Christmas and New Year. The overacting belonged in pantoland.

Oh no it didn't!

I don't remember it being on only once a week. Thought it started at twice a week. Then again I only remember it from the 1970s. Was this the 1960s?

Risun · 03/02/2024 10:27

It's never been on only once a week.

blackoverbillsmothers · 03/02/2024 11:19

There was a time when I couldn’t imagine not watching it but I haven’t for years. I think the start of the decline was when it began being broadcast more than twice a week. I think it’s both boring and ridiculous now. ☹️

You're probably right. I may not have been being entirely serious there. 😉 😅

I did used to be twice a week. Monday and Wednesday

MassageForLife · 03/02/2024 11:46

I reckon you should get on to ITV, and ask for a refund for all the episodes you've missed.

It's unacceptable!
