Looking forward to nights recorded efforts - WTF, its not on tonight
and as the previous few weeks, we did not get an episode on Tuesday

ITV has so many channels that it could have easily put the crap on in place ofCS on another channel

Why have we been shortage again, disgusting!

FFS! MIL imposed this drivel on us throughout Christmas and New Year. The overacting belonged in pantoland.

😂at the thread title.

OP, are you the person that writes the tabloid headlines where they say things like "This Morning AXED in MAJOR tv schedule shake-up" and it turns out it's not on because it's a bank holiday.

@DistinguishedSocialCommenator

I thought it had been axed from your thread title. Dramatic much? 🙄 All the episodes will be on over the week; it's just the day that is changing!

Lots of things are bumped for sport. Sport trumps everything which pisses me off greatly. Like they never show the end of The Brits if it's running late - and miss the beginning of a football match ... They cut off the end of The Brits. They would NEVER do the same if it's other other way around! And it's not just football.

Sport trumps everything, and yet I can count on the fingers of one hand, the amount of people I know who are sports fans. Obviously the exist. I just don't know many.

I also agree with some posters that Corrie has turned to shit. There are SO many bad storylines and shit characters now. The Bailey family are dire, and terrible actors. Simon (Peter's son) was a cute lad, but is awful as an adult actor. Dark miserable look on his face, and not a very good actor after all.

There are relatives who have never been mentioned before who suddenly turn up and move in to someone's house or flat. Carla Connor's nephew Bobby (who she never knew existed) turning up out of blue, and saying 'hello auntie Carla!' and moving into her flat is a breathtakingly stupid storyline.

They have turned Gail into a doddery simpleton who acts like she doesn't know her arse from her elbow, Gemma is a gurning, repugnant bore, and her mum is not much better. Pairing Gemma's mum up with Dev is ludicrous. No way would he go for someone like her. Ditto Tracey and the ex footballer. No WAY would he have gone for Tracey.

Jenny and Daisy buying the Rovers Return pub back with stolen money when the pub was shut down because of low sales is pathetic. They have done NOTHING different and everything is the same as it was before - when the pub was making no money. WTF is that all about? Nonsensical storyline!

Also, everyone works in the street, most live in the street, and everyone dates/is married to someone who they met in the street. They all go to the same pub, and most women work at the factory, or the bistro, or the Rovers Return pub! Most of the men work at the garage, the factory, or the pub, or the bistro!

When Corrie started, life was like this. 3 to 5 generations of families lived within half a mile from one another, everyone knew everyone, most people lived walking distance to where they worked, everyone you knew drank at the same one or two pubs, and most people you knew worked at the same half a dozen or so workplaces. But life is not like that now. Corrie has not moved on, and the storylines are stupid.

And the way someone decides to leave, and packs their life into 2 suitcases and leaves the next day - usually for 'Scotland' or 'Ireland' or 'That London' is farcical. It would take me a week to pack my books, CDs, records, and DVDs. And a few weeks to tie everything up and get all my ducks in a row. I would have to give 2 months notice at work!

Corrie either needs a complete overhaul and dragging out of the 1970s (because every storyline is half a century out of date.) OR it needs binning.

And I say this as someone who has been watching Corrie for FORTY EIGHT YEARS!

I don’t watch soaps but I can appreciate your disappointment.

however, rugby and football are big audience pulls and TV channels need all the revenue they can get right now. Ultimately shifting corrie might help its existence

Channel 4 is in crisis right now and I’d imagine ITV has an eye on what’s going on over there

So let's see. Your complaint is that one episode of a tv show; that is already on multiple times a week, has been bumped from the schedule for a popular sporting event that happens once a year?

Get the fuck over yourself.

The 2021 Six Nations tournament saw an audience peak of 8.4 million on ITV (link is here: https://www.globaldata.com/store/report/six-nations-rugby-event-analysis/) This, combined with sponsorship and advertising revenue from big brands such as Guinness, TikTok and Brietling make it a much more lucrative prospect for ITV than Coronation Street, which has continued to lose views every year at an purported rate of 10% per year. Indeed last year, Coronation Street dropped out of the top 10 most watched programs over Christmas with an audience of around 2.6 million. I haven't watched CS since I lived at home and my mother insisted upon it.

Is yer woman woman with the crap pixie and a simpering smile still in it? Married to a bloke in overalls who had an Alarming Moustache. I seem to recall their vacuous offspring had a teen pregnancy, possibly aided by a bloke with curtain hair who took off his top and sang a bit irl. And yer woman from the carry ons was having it away with a smarmy bloke in a grey suit who ran a knicker factory. Oh and Dolly from dinnerladies was in it iirc.

Redglitter · 02/02/2024 19:02

I am going to make a massive protest on my blog and ITV will take note

Apparantly ITV executives have been summoned to an emergency meeting as we speak

CS being postponed really puts other things going on in the world into perspective doesn't it

Thinking of you OP at this very difficult time 🙏

Wednesdaysphiltrum · 02/02/2024 19:40

Absolutely buzzing for the rugby!

DahliaMacNamara · 02/02/2024 19:48

It's on in my house now, and as I suspected, rugby in the dark is unnatural and unhealthy. And the game hasn't even started yet.

SweetBirdsong · 02/02/2024 19:49

I REALLY want to see the OP's blog. 😬

I was hoping you’d say that the once majestic but now very boring show had been axed.

So was I.

It used to be glorious! Best soap ever - but it has been careering downhill for years and now isn't worth watching any more.

I hoped they had put it out of its misery.

JudgeJ · 02/02/2024 19:58

fluffiphlox · 02/02/2024 13:59

I stopped watching when it went from twice a week to nightly.

I stopped watching it about 8 years ago when it seemed to be the murder centre of the North West, and I was once in it!

Sleeplessnightssss · 02/02/2024 20:00

Corrie is never on on a Tuesday anyway......

Emotionalsupportviper · 02/02/2024 20:06

Simon (Peter's son) was a cute lad, but is awful as an adult actor.

It's some year's since I watched, but in many soaps it is traditional (when a child actor has grown up to be sh1te/ ugly as a box of frogs/ a social media car crash) to have them involved in a serious motor accident, and spend some weeks in hospital - usually in a coma or on life support, before returning home as if nothing has happened, but with a completely different head.*

This also gives them an opportunity to have a "If you've had a serious car crash involving facial bandages, or are otherwise affected by this programme ring the number below" public information message

*Not really - they use a different actor (an insider told me that this is how they do it Grin)

I am amazed coronation st is still going.

Bluevelvetsofa · 02/02/2024 13:08

It’s because football and rugby are deemed more important than anything else and the schedules can be changed at will, to accommodate them.

There are times when there’s sport on the terrestrial and Sky channels and very little else.

What are you taking about? There are a hundred + channels on Sky, Virgin etc that NEVER show sport.

StaunchMomma · 02/02/2024 20:23

Luckily, The Archers marches on!

No rescheduling issues in Ambridge!

Yes and CS produces the most income I read. Do you have any links to confirm what you said as I doubt you got it correct.

I work in TV so don’t fret about ‘doubting’.

Corrie rates well throughout the year. Big sporting events pull in a different (bigger) audience who advertisers like / want to target. They’re prepared to pay Top Dollar for the spot in a way they won’t for the Corrie audience.

Simple accounting.

Yep, it still has a decent amount of viewers.
